Not exactly a big surprise given the price but the Steam Deck has managed to stay at number 1 of the Steam Weekly Global Top Sellers list.

This is sorted by revenue, not by the amount of units sold. Sadly, we don't know how exactly many units that is since Valve don't actually give out direct numbers like that, so for now this is the best indicator we have of its performance. It has managed to do so for 4 consecutive weeks now too! Not only that, it's been in the top 5 for 9 weeks.

It's such a stark contrast the Steam Machines, which you can read some history on in my previous editorial.

As mentioned previously when the Steam Deck initially jumped to 1st place, it's going up against some multi-million sellers like Elden Ring so all things considered — it's a thoroughly good showing for Valve's newest entry into the hardware market and it continues to be the most important thing in years for Linux Gaming.

Also, today, according to SteamDB the Steam Deck has hit 2,666 games set as Verified or Playable. Some recent Verified titles include: Serial Cleaner, Peaky Blinders: Mastermind, Owlboy, Wave Break and Escape Simulator.

Well, if it's sorted by revenue then that makes sense. This way it will stay #1 for a while too, as the production is getting bigger, there are customers already actually waiting for it and the price is comparably ~10x higher then other products (games).

Nobody knows. "Enough to make the Steam Deck the #1 seller on Steam for 4 weeks running" is all the information we have.

That's a whole 13 years of 'No' being the relevant answer, impressive.

Not bad for a very limited launch product that is ONLY available to CA/UK/USA residence (likely for a good 2 years).

I'm in Australia, might as well wait for Steam Deck 2....

You are forgetting entire EU, nearly 500M people. So... not so limited launch.

Stop making up places, next time you will try to convince me that Japan is also real and not just place from anime.

I don't know how reliable it is, but just for the fun of having an approximation... It seems Elden Ring sold 13million copies in its first month...

13 million x 60$ / 649$ (Steam deck 512gb price, being conservative) = Over 1.201 million units...

In its first month? And it did better than Elden Ring? Did I miss something? If I'm not too far from the mark, the sales figure are pretty good.
