Not exactly a big surprise given the price but the Steam Deck has managed to stay at number 1 of the Steam Weekly Global Top Sellers list.

This is sorted by revenue, not by the amount of units sold. Sadly, we don't know how exactly many units that is since Valve don't actually give out direct numbers like that, so for now this is the best indicator we have of its performance. It has managed to do so for 4 consecutive weeks now too! Not only that, it's been in the top 5 for 9 weeks.

It's such a stark contrast the Steam Machines, which you can read some history on in my previous editorial.

As mentioned previously when the Steam Deck initially jumped to 1st place, it's going up against some multi-million sellers like Elden Ring so all things considered — it's a thoroughly good showing for Valve's newest entry into the hardware market and it continues to be the most important thing in years for Linux Gaming.

Also, today, according to SteamDB the Steam Deck has hit 2,666 games set as Verified or Playable. Some recent Verified titles include: Serial Cleaner, Peaky Blinders: Mastermind, Owlboy, Wave Break and Escape Simulator.

Quoting: SolitaryYou are forgetting entire EU, nearly 500M people. So... not so limited launch.

If it don't include Australia and New Zealand then its very limited afaic. :p

Stop making up places, next time you will try to convince me that Japan is also real and not just place from anime.

I looked up earth maps, and there wasn't any "New Zealand" on them...!

steam deck need to sell 793.985 at 399 to get this ammount of money.
or...488.135 at 649.
so it need to sell between 488~794

valve said the best selling model of steam deck was the most expensive one.
Quoting: MohandevirI don't know how reliable it is, but just for the fun of having an approximation... It seems Elden Ring sold 13million copies in its first month...

13 million x 60$ / 649$ (Steam deck 512gb price, being conservative) = Over 1.201 million units...

In its first month? And it did better than Elden Ring? Did I miss something? If I'm not too far from the mark, the sales figure are pretty good.

Well its on the moon obviously!

But in all seriousness, If you want to see what New Zealand is like then go watch the original Lord of the Rings movies.

Thanks for the clarification. Didn't know about the 44%. Still, if I apply that 44% on my model, it's about 528K units in the first month. It aligns with your own bracket. With Valve's limited production capabilities (in that same first month), is still quite good, imo. It's just enough to have an idea of how many units they sold.
