Tempest Rising looks like the RTS I've been waiting for

By - | Views: 22,966

THQ Nordic, 3D Realms and  Slipgate Ironworks recently revealed Tempest Rising an upcoming classic RTS and after watching the trailer I absolutely need this.

While it will no doubt only officially support Windows, it doesn't release until 2023 and the Proton compatibility layer is already at a point where a lot of new releases just work. It also claims to have full controller support, so could be a good Steam Deck RTS!

As someone who grew up playing Dune 2, Command & Conquer and Red Alert — Tempest Rising seems like it's ticking all the right boxes for me.

Quoting: Just_IrishThe last Classic RTS I enjoyed was C&C Kane's Wrath. Everything else to follow with that formula has fallen short. I hope that this turns out fantastic and not make the mistakes that a lot of developers have in the last decade. I'm always a big fan of Doom-like rip-and-tear music, so just this reveal trailer is getting me hyped. Graphics are looking pretty legit, too.

Same here! Still playing C&C3 KW with my buddies every now and then (works great on wine/proton btw).
I am pretty excited for this one!
Could it finally be the successor of C&C3 KW for our LAN evenings?!

Wait a second, we have a GDF uplink being established ?

"Strong as they may be, they are still flesh and bone"

Are we getting a RTS set into the retro boomer shooter (build engine) universe of IonFury ?

Obviously I may read way too much into this, but... The GDF font looks really like Ion Fury's it's made by the IP owners, I don't know.

I mean I'm absolutely up for it. But if it mean even more ham Ion Fury material, I'm all for it.

Yes, indeed. This is set in the Ion Fury/Bombshell universe. Confirmed on the 3D Realms Discord.

No co-op campaign and not even comp-stomp is mentioned... unless the SP campaign is as cool of an experience as Starcraft II was, I'm probably gonna pass. It looks super cool though.
