OpenRA is closing in on another big new release to improve the experience of playing Command & Conquer, Red Alert and Dune 2000.

As a brief reminder: OpenRA is a very flexible RTS game engine, primarily aimed at getting the likes of Command & Conquer, Red Alert and Dune 2000 easily playable cross-platform with a number of enhancements while keeping the core gameplay intact but it's also used for a few other games now too. They're working towards Tiberian Sun support too.

Available now with Playtest 20230218:

  • Multiple nuisance crash bugs fixed.
  • Fixed the map editor not being able to resave .oramap files with subfolders.
  • Red Alert:
    • Fixed the descriptions of the parabomb and paradrop support powers.
  • Dune 2000:
    • Fixed Deviators being able to take over friendly vehicles.
    • Polished the Encyclopedia.
  • + More.

This is all in addition to the previous Playtest from late 2022 that had lots of big improvements. See more on the OpenRA website.

I'll be the first to admit that when OpenRA finally gets Tiberian Sun support, you might not hear from me for a while. I'm far too excited about that.

Want to try a great game with it? Take a look at Command & Conquer - Combined Arms.
