My kids and I still haven't finished the base game. We can't be far though. I'll probably get the DLC after we do finish the main game.

The blimp cameos in the game a couple of times, funnily enough.

I'm in the same situation - I'm only on my second playthrough (first was with Donatello, second with Splinter - wanted to start with my two favourite characters), and have a lot left to do! I'll definitely be grabbing the DLC when I'm done with everything in the main game. The free colour-palette update looks great, at least - some good options there, and it finally fixed the ugly scaling on portable displays when you're not using any of the graphical filters, too, which was a nice bonus.
