Weather Factory (who made Cultist Simulator) are set to release BOOK OF HOURS: HOUSE OF LIGHT, an expansion to their occult library restoration building RPG on September 26. Note: the developer sent over a key.

The combat-free crafting RPG set in an occult library is set to expand in a big way. The DLC will bring in big new features like Social Events, allowing you to host exotic dinner parties for a whole bunch of strange people. Here you'll need to pick the location inside your library and deal with food, drink, ambience and timing where a "successful soirée will influence the world in subtle ways, sending ripples far beyond your walls".

It also adds in a cooking system where you dive "into the dangerous world of 1930s European recipes and influence your attendees with your choice of spices, sweetmeats and dainties". There's also more advanced visitor stories, with you able to invite them over to visit any time. Plus you'll get to pick your favourites to set up the influential Lighthouse Institute to "set its course through the world".

At release the DLC will be priced at $14.99 / £12.99 / €13.99.

From what the developers told me the base game was one of 2023's unlikely indie hits. It sold more than 44,000 copies on Steam in its first month of sale with a Very Positive rating overall on Steam. If you like something a bit slower and just thoroughly different to what a lot of developers are putting out, this could be worth a look.

Check it out on GOG and Steam. It has Native Linux support.

And with perfect timing too. Autumn is around the corner, and this game has the perfect mood for shutting all doors and windows, turning up the heating, and drinking a hot cup of tea.
yep, time for this puppy to finally graduate out of the wishlist
