Bringing a UI refresh to game pages, along with numerous fixes to running games on Linux systems, the Heroic Games Launcher has a new release out now. It's the easiest way to run games from Epic, GOG and Amazon on Linux / SteamOS / Steam Deck.
The launcher can be run on Linux, macOS and Windows.
Heroic 2.17.0 Franky main changes:
- New GamePage Design.
- [macOS] Add Button to automate Windows Steam installation.
- Adds a setting to download Proton versions directly to the Steam compatibility folder.
- It is now possible to select an image file on the sideload dialog.
- Update electron to latest version v36.2.1.
- Fixes Issues with Epic Login and Checkout.
- Several fixes for UMU, DXVK and GPTK.
- Fixes HowLongToBeat not working anymore.
- Update Legendary and added a EpicGamesLauncher.exe to fix issues with Rockstar games.
- Fixed an issue with RemotePlay not working with Steam.
- Several refactors and improvements.
Here's a look at the new game page design:

Great time for a new release with Valve's SteamOS now more widely available to install on other devices. Be sure to also keep an eye on our anti-cheat page for compatibility.

Never thought I would say this, but I have been getting a bit disenchanted with heroic lately.
It works awesome, and I even vastly prefer it over the steam client, but then I run into annoying papercuts in configurability.
First pet peeve: no offline switch. Keeping heroic from phoning to everything (from the shops to the proton/wine repository) has to be done with a brute-force method such as disabling one's internet connection.
Second pet peeve: no option to disable creepy playtime tracking. For some weird reason disabling the playtime sync is deemed sufficient.

Hmm... Isn't playtime recording a good thing, for some self-insights?

Keeping heroic from phoning to everything (from the shops to the proton/wine repository)That part is strange.
Heroic skips analytics wherever possible and the only thing that needs to be toggled is the optional referral on the gog store.
This is confined to the bare essentials to whenever it is needed. How would they know which games you have and what updates are there for a good user experience if they can't poll data from the internet?

Does anyone know if they plan to add steam support, as in launch my steam games directly from heroics UI
Sometimes I want to use heroic launcher as my main games launcher but haven't found a reliable way to get my steam library on there

Steam runs natively on Windows AND Linux. There is no immediate need to go through the painstaking process of reverse engineering the Steam app and create an opensource client for it. (That is the required foundation for any platform/storefront that gets included in Heroic).
Heroic is the GUI for any other non-steam platform and it can create shortcuts inside Steam for its games.
Steam is a very complex target , OpenSteamClient has a long way to go as a one man project to come even remotely close to the original.

Ah I didn't realise it was so complex, I like using the ui to launch my non-digital pc games and gog games, makes sense I guess when I look at the features for gog like cloud saves and gog galaxy stuff.. shame gog ignores linux when it comes to their official client
I did try to work around this by making a steam shortcut and adding the shortcut as a game on Heroic, which worked initially but then the shortcuts stopped working
I know I could just use steam, just that on some of the older systems I use it feels somewhat sluggish compared to the more simple UI on heroic
Thanks for the explanation!

Well, I like Heroic functionality and appreciate it for bringing up gaming on linux on another easier level. But man... I don't like the presentation. Starting from weird fonts, icons and color schemes, ending with that new game page design. Why there needs to be three tabs (install info, extra info, requirements) when there's plenty of space everywhere? Why how long to beat "graphs" are hidden by default? It somehow feels like I'm back in Windows where I have to do like three times as many clicks as needed...
