This is the sale event you've been waiting on isn't it? The Steam Winter Sale 2025 has arrived with a great many thousands of games discounted. No doubt the Steam store will be a little flaky for a while, as it usually struggles to cope with the increased demand of everyone madly throwing their payment cards at the servers.

Valve's Steam Awards is also now open for voting, with nominations over. No big surprise in the final nominations for Game of the Year which includes:

All of them are on sale too.

As usual I've gone over and picked out a few fun treats for you to get you going. To keep it simple, I'm sticking to games that are noted to be Steam Deck Verified / SteamOS Compatible. So you should be able to just hit play without thinking on them no matter the Linux system you're gaming on.

Top Picks under £20

Cyberpunk 2077 - 65% off

Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader - 60% off

No Man's Sky - 60% off

The Wandering Village - 50% off

Hollow Knight: Silksong - 20% off

Top Picks under £10

DREDGE - 60% off

Cult of the Lamb - 50% off

PEAK - 38% off

Mouthwashing - 30% off

Megabonk - 25% off

The sale ends January 5th. So plenty of time for you to decide. See it all on Steam and you should also check out the special deals page for some really big discounts.

Let us know what great deals you grabbed in the comments.

I should get through my massive backlog before buying anything new 😆

YES! I just glanced at my wishlist sorted by discount and there's a ton of stuff under $10. Going to probably spend way too much money and just grow the backlog to infinity!

This is when the follow up part of my game, Don't Hurt My Wallet!, kicks in; having been on the fence about certain games, when sales on them kick in and I'm still on the fence, I don't really want it and remove it from my Wishlist. Your wallet and inability to choose a game to play will thank you!

I bought Flick Shot Rogues earlier this month since it was on sale until today. Figured it wouldn't get an even bigger discount immediately after since it's a recent release. Guess what!

That'll be it for me this season, not much time to play.

Split-Fiction has been my favourite game to come out of 2025, just finished it today with my partner

Runs great, and is even better then it takes-two, it's really refreshing to play a game like this in 2025, so many unquie and fun set pieces, twists and turns. I really wish more games like this were made today!

I might pick up Lego Skywalker saga over the sale to continue with that splitscreen/couch co-op fun

I'll take my usual approach to the Steam Awards -- vote for anything with Linux support, ignore any categories which don't have a viable vote option.

I think the only games I played from 2025 were Civilisation VII (pants), and Little Sim World (alright, but very early access.)

Especially since at least some of these will be cheaper next year. No rush.

Unless, of course, there's grounds to expect a "remaster" which is in fact a downgrade that also involves the superior original release getting delisted. Curious times we live in, yes?

That said, I grabbed Kingdom Come 2 when I still need to finish 1. That's a "support the devs" case for me. Unique voice, hope they make more games.

Otherwise, I liked what I played of Hollow Knight and will get back to it someday, but I'm not that into the idea of a harder sequel so I have zero interest in Silksong. I do really like the devs, though, so if I do finish Hollow Knight and feel up for more...

Expedition 33 just doesn't look appealing to me with its absurdly high concept idea and silly art style, and the combat system isn't helping its case. Also, I'm now sick of it just by existing on the Internet. Wouldn't be fair to the game if I played it in the height of the furor. Maybe a 70% off for me, but I'd need to run out of games to play AND be starved for jrpgs (of which I have a healthy - and growing - backlog) even then.

Dispatch - don't care.

The shooty thing I already forgot the title of - ...

Basically what I'm saying is that I seek to incur the wrath of the Dorito Pope.

I'd been tempted when it was on sale on Fanatical recently, so I couldn't resist Dead Island 2 Ultimate for $7.

I got The Drifter after @Eike's recommendation, Unavowed, and the Joe Richardson's trilogy; Four Last Things, The Procession to Calvary and Death of the Reprobate.

Expedition 33 and Indiana Jones will have to wait until I can play them on the desktop or when they release the Definitive Edition. Or if I win Christmas' lottery 😅
