Reikon Games are doing a follow-up to the popular RUINER from 2017, with RUINER 2 set to return to the brutal world but this time with optional co-op.
From the Steam page: "RUINER 2 evolves the cult-classic top-down shooter into a deep, systems-driven Action RPG. Return to the industrial hellscapes of Rengkok and the wasteland beyond with unique playable Shells and a combat style defined by your choices. RUINER 2 evolves the fight, not the formula. The opponents are still savage. The crowd still closes in. The only way is still through. Stop killing, and you're dead."

Game Highlights:
- You Are the Hacker - In Rengkok, power is control. You are a hacker who hijacks other heroes, turning them into “puppies” called Shells. Defeat unique bosses, add them to your collection, and put them on your leash.
- Build Your Shell Roster - Every Shell you obtain goes to your Shell Garage. Build your Shell Roster, pick three for solo or two for co-op, and swap between them on the fly. Your roster is your build.
- Utilize Roster Synergies - Every Shell has a role. Master your roster's synergies to trigger cascading damage that no single Shell could pull off alone. The deeper your combinations, the further you can push.
- Hacker Progression - Karma levels your Hacker. Spend it on the Neural Network - a passive tree that shapes your entire roster and defines your build. One tree, endless combinations.
- Shell Progression - Each Shell grows into its own. Four skills, two branching paths each - dozens of nodes that redefine each Shell's playstyle. Mix and match across your roster to create deadly synergies.
- Overload System - Every Shell runs on three resources: Power, CPU, and Memory. Every piece of gear draws from that Shell's pool. Gear up smart — there are no free slots, only trade-offs.
- Limitless Crafting - Every upgrade is a bet. Push further, and the Complexity Factor climbs - bigger reward, real risk. The item can change in ways you didn't plan for. How far you push is your call.
- Endless Endgame - Fight through escalating tiers across Rengkok's darkest districts: stronger enemies, better loot, no ceiling. The only limit is your build.
- Up to Three-Player Co-op - Three players, six Shells, one combined roster. Coordinate your synergies and push challenges together that no single roster could handle alone.
- No Pay-to-Win Rule - Every gameplay advantage is earned. Microtransactions are not affecting gameplay. Your build, your roster, your progression - none of it is for sale.

Only played a couple of hours of the first one - I remember enjoying it, but (as usual) was distracted by other games of the time. In this case, from my Steam "last played", it was Rise of the Tomb Raider! Or it could have been MidBoss, Welcome to Basingstoke, or possibly... indeed likely... Gunpoint.
Goddam, in fact, straight after Gunpoint, there was Crysis 2 Maximum Edition, and then one of my favourite games of all time - Transistor. No wonder I never went back to this!
Anyway, it's an easy wishlist.
