Will lightning strike twice for developer poncle? We're going to find out when Vampire Crawlers: The Turbo Wildcard from Vampire Survivors releases April 21st.

The release date was just announced for the Vampire Survivors deck-building spin-off with a price of £9.99 / $9.99 / €9.99 / ¥1200.

More about it: "From the somehow triple-BAFTA‑winning creators of Vampire Survivors, Vampire Crawlers: the turbo wildcard from Vampire Survivors turns the snowballing thrill of Vampire Survivors into a turbo turn‑based, card‑driven BLOBBER with rogue-lite elements. Build busted decks, explore familiar dungeons from a new perspective, and unleash world‑ending combos. Either take your time and be tactical, or play turns as fast as you humanly can: the outcome is always accurate!"

They made a release date trailer, although it doesn't actually show the game off:

I wasn't entirely sold on it from the demo, with it being a bit too basic but I'm keen to see what the actual full experience is like.

Some more info from the new FAQ:

Why is this more expensive than Vampire Survivors?
VS was lightning in a bottle, originally made by a solo dev (hello!) with a budget of £1100 and grew in content and production value over time thanks to the overwhelming success and support from the players.
Vampire Crawlers instead is made from scratch by the teams of poncle and Nosebleed Interactive, which makes it a more traditional and much more costly production.
As mentioned a few times in past Steam News, we price our stuff depending on its production value and by keeping affordability in mind.

What platforms is it coming to?
Vampire Crawlers will launch on Steam, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and PlayStation. Mobile versions are planned for a bit later, but still in 2026.

Does the game support controllers?
Yes. Controller support is included.

Does the game support Cross Save between different platforms?
Not at launch, we're looking into it on time for the mobile ports.

Will Save Data carry over on Steam if I play the demo?
Yes. We advise to not overdo it with the demo, but who are we to stop you?

How will the game differ from the demo?
Other than obviously having all of the content, the game will launch with a lot of fixes and improvements compared to the demo (and thanks to everyone that helped by reporting bugs, feedback, and suggestions!). The demo will also be updated later on to reflect the new standard, as we are planning to keep it available for download.

As someone who appreciates, but can't be arsed to play Slay the Spire often: Vampire Crawlers borders on mindless slop and that's exactly right.

From the picture, not my cup of tea, but I very much like this aspect of their FAQ:

The demo will also be updated later on to reflect the new standard, as we are planning to keep it available for download.

More developers need to do this instead of deactivating the demo when they go into early access or final release.
