Ascenders: Beyond The Peak, is an exploration roguelite blending turn-based climbing and expedition management, with rope physics, and permanent consequences. I have to admit, this looks and sounds like a really damn cool idea and it went right up high on my wishlist.
I don't remember any other game that has the look and feel of this one. Sounds like a tough one too. Lose a climber? Their resources go with them, morale drops and it will only get more challenging. Depending on the route you take, you might doom your entire expedition.
There's no exact release date yet other than Q3 2026 for Early Access.

More info from the press release:
In Ascenders: Beyond The Peak, the difference between life and death is your ability to read the mountain and choose your next move wisely. As the team leader, players will face moral choices as they climb a mountain cursed with mysterious Lovecraftian threats hidden within the rock — every loss irrevocably reshaping your roster. Every expedition is a desperate attempt to reach the summit, understand the forces shaping the mountain, and return alive with the knowledge and artefacts you need for your next ascent. At all costs, your mission is to forbid them from falling into the wrong hands. Death after death, players will learn to turn the environment into a weapon, mastering each ascent through hard-earned roguelite progression.
What’s unique about Ascenders: Beyond The Peak is that your team is physically connected. The rope system creates unique positioning challenges and opportunities to secure your team, anchor dangerous climbs, pull a companion out of danger, or drag them into it.
When an expedition starts to collapse, players may be forced to make irreversible sacrifices, abandoning a climber to save the rest. Choosing to retreat to save one comes at a cost: closing off survival opportunities for the entire team, and losing members. Cutting the rope will lead to losing resources, and survivors will take the traumatic toll.
Lose a climber? Their resources go with them, morale drops and it will only get more challenging.Isn't that just Peak? 😛
*rereads title* Oh wait, this is Beyond the Peak, my bad.
It weirdly reminds me of the board game Leviathan Wilds, a game that's sort of like Shadows of the Colossus if you and your friends were climbing giant leviathans to shatter the corrupting crystals growing on their bodies to free them instead of killing them. Same kind of 2D vertical climbing mechanics (although you're not roped together in Leviathan Wilds).
