Castle Away from Renegade Games is a strategy roguelite autobattler that challenges players to build, command, and explore using a customisable floating keep.

They previously ran closed testing, and then opened up a public Steam playtest - with an announcement sent to GamingOnLinux about the Steam Playtest expanding with support now for "Mac, Linux and Controller implementations".

More about it - The surface is cursed by demons, so the only refuge is to stay afloat. Players will build their flying castle tile-by-tile, placing structures to create powerful synergies. Placing an Archer Tower next to a Windmill increases its attack speed, while a Holy Banner doubles the damage output of the entire row. Survival depends not just on what you build, but where you build it.

"We want players to be able to build and command their own floating keep, use it to slay monsters, and scavenge for goods, while thinking strategically about structure placement." — Sim Kaart, Art and Game Design

Game Highlights:

  • Deep Customisation: Find 50 different Structures with 3 upgrade tiers, 30 Banner types and 4 powerful Artefacts, all with unique rules to build killer synergies.
  • Challenging Enemies: Face off against 20 Monster types and 5 massive Demon Bosses.
  • Encounter Variety: Discover Shops, Healing wells, Shamans, Ruins, Cities and more.
  • 5 Distinct Realms: Navigate through five worlds to find all Ancient Seals.
  • Roguelike Replayability: Random encounters, multiple endings, and procedural loot ensure fresh runs.
