A user requested after the second part to my overall thoughts on the Steam Controller that I check out Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, so I did. I captured it on video, and you can now watch my failure.
A while ago I did a write-up of the Steam Controller on Linux, and now I’ve had a few more months with it, I’ve tested out the gyroscope some more, and some games not really meant for a gamepad.
It seems Valve/HTC are the latest company to release something with Linux support listed right up to release, and then remove mentions of it. This time it's the Vive VR device.

After upgrading to a 27 inch 4K monitor, I found that my desk was a little cramped and I couldn't fit another monitor on it. Someone in a recent livestream suggested a "monitor arm", and I am now using one I consider to be excellent.
The specification for the long awaited Vulkan graphics API has now been released by Khronos. An SDK by LunarG has also been released which contains validation and debugging tools for Vulkan applications.
A pretty major Steam Client Beta just landed, and with it comes hardware accelerated encoding for In-Home Streaming on Nvidia with Linux, and you can also now configure the Steam Controller for desktop mode (including using the big picture overlay when launching from the desktop client).
SteamOS just keeps getting better at actually being a useful system. A beta update just launched giving you access to easily pair bluetooth gear to SteamOS.
