Not long to wait for the proper stable version of Stardew Valley's Multiplayer Update, as the developer confirmed today that it will release on August 1st.

Here's what they said:

The Stardew Valley Multiplayer Update will be out for PC, Mac & Linux on August 1st!

They also sent out a trailer for it:

Multiplayer isn't the only addition in this coming update, as it also brings along a bunch of new content for the ride too. Bring up to three friends, marry them (or not, whatever) make them a place to sleep and let your farm grow. Such a ridiculously sweet game, fantastic to have it on Linux.

Want to grab a copy now? It's fun in single-player and the multiplayer works in the current beta. Grab it from: Humble Store, GOG and Steam.

Don't get the obsession with adding multiplayer to absolutely everything nowadays *grumble grumble* but the new additions should be a good excuse to revisit the game.

You know, I wasn't sure how much multiplayer would really add to this game either, despite being a mostly-co-op guy. But I do like it. I think I like playing with one other person best. Playing with two others is OK; three others creates a game pace that I don't like in this game so much.

Blame people like me :D A pure singleplayer game has to be close to perfect for me to spend money and time on it. However, any kind of coop or multiplayer and I'm all in ^^ So, the moment multiplayer is supported here I'll buy a few copies of the game :D

Fun as this game was before, it's even better in multiplayer. Been playing with a friend since the beta came out, we've made it through our first year so far and have been having a blast.

And if you're feeling mischievous, there are so many ways to mess with your friends, too. Wait for them to come running back late at night then block the path to their bed with furniture, leave horses in places where it'll block them coming out of a building, run around and be silly in their cutscenes, if you're the host you can instantly move their house around anywhere you want for free, etc., etc. :D

Edit: Forgot to say, the new non-multiplayer-exclusive content is pretty neat too. The Autograbber makes it a breeze to collect from cows, sheep and goats, the Night Market is a cool event where you can buy all different kinds of seed during the winter (good for green houses), the ability to grow cactus now is nice, etc.

Yeah, similar here.
The pacing of the game is just really nice for multiplayer. You can decide to do something together throughout the day or split up and only do the farming stuff together in the morning and/or evening.
