I see that this game is on sale for 50% off on Steam right now, and was wondering if anyone has heard yet when the release date of the linux port will be? If there was a chance of my money going to the porters during this sale, I'd snag it now, but that feels unlikely as so far.

It does seem like suspiciously interesting timing for the game to go on sale, considering none of the other WB Interactive games are on sale. Still, it could just be a coincidence or wishful thinking on our part. On the other hand, the last time I doubted it was when there was speculation that it might come to Linux. Shortly after that, they announced it. I'm hoping I'm wrong again.

It will release tonight /wishes

Seriously though, do you even need to ask :P, if people knew we would be spamming that date to everyone ;)
HadBabits 25 Apr 2015
If it was gonna happen, it probably would've been yesterday when the sale started. I imagine the devs are probably enjoying their weekend right now, but here's hoping I'm wrong :P
Liam Dawe 25 Apr 2015
Yeah I can't see it being released with the sale, as it would have been released at the start to give people the most time possible.

They have until midnight June 20th (in whatever timezone they're in). That's not a threat. It's just when Spring technically ends. :D
Liam Dawe 26 Apr 2015
They have that long? God dammit for some reason I thought it ended next month, not June, dammit to hell Mordor.

@ShineUponThee Our bloodthirsty armies are still marching; they won't arrive at Linux/Mac before the end of the current Mordor sale.

Not sure if it's progress or they're just toying with us... But seriously, why are Linux porters such teases!? Regardless if I kind of enjoy it

I noticed the "best guess" for Shadow of Mordor on the release calendar is June 30th (after Spring). Is there a reason for this guess?
wojtek88 1 Jun 2015
@melkemind Yes, there is. It was 1st June but because it is not true it was moved to the end of the month. If it will also be bad guess it will be moved to next month and so on. At some point guess will be almost correct ;).

I asked Liam about Witcher 3 "Best guess" release date, and he responded me that it has "Best guess" icon for a reason - it means Best Guesses are put based on a some information, but not based on an official release dates, because they do not exist.

For example I am sure that Liam assumed this date some time ago, because Feral Interactive informs us that the game will be released "very soon" and that lasts for some time already:
https://www.feralinteractive.com/en/upcoming/

Anyway, calendar is very helpful, but do not rely on "Best guess" dates until this marker is removed.
Liam Dawe 1 Jun 2015
Well, it was stated for release in the Spring, and there's only like 19 days left of Spring, so I moved it to where I think it *may* appear. My guess is based on a possible delay (since we've heard nothing), and this puts it after the summer sale to make a splash.
