since Gaming On Linux is becoming more and more popular why not try to also help people get to together to kickstart new projects which the Linux gaming community will benefit from? New games for example come to my mind :) Or established projects which need a helping hand or two.
This idea grew a little bit out of personal needs. I am a C++ and Python developer searching for a new spare time project ;)
Cheers,
Alduin

Similar to other projects like ScummVM, GemRB and OpenMW, xoreos is a project to reverse engineer and reimplement the 3D BioWare CPRGs, starting from Neverwinter Nights and targetting up to Dragon Age 2 [1]. Since that is a massive undertaking, we need all the help we can get, and are happy for anyone providing such help.
In the current state, most of the targetted games show basic area geometry and objects, allowing you to fly around in a spectator-style mode. NWN, KotOR and KotOR2, some main menu parts is show, and NWN has even limited scripting support and dialogues. Me, I'm currently doing some work on Sonic [2], to also get it to show areas (next up would be Dragon Age, I guess). I also wrote about a bit on my work on the xoreos.org blog, and lately these posts have been mirrored here on GoL.
So, if that sounds like something you would like to join, please have a look at the website, wiki (especially the Developer Central page and/or source code. You can contact us over our mailing list and in #xoreos on Freenode IRC.
[1] Minus the Mass Effect games, since they don't use BioWare's own engine. A list of games we want to support can be found here: https://xoreos.org/games/index.html
