Hi folks!

Looks promising: GTA V WineHQ

Here is a video of a German Linux Gamer who plays GTA V regular under WineHQ:

https://youtu.be/g-pC6HVGDCA

The graphics are reduced but it works!

This week GTA V is on sale on steam and I wonder if I should access it. I'm currently playing it on my PS4. But most of all I would like to play it under Linux.

Has anyone tried it with the current version of WineHQ? Is there further progress?

So I tried. But only got a black screen. No sound, nothing. I have returned it. With the hint that I use Linux.

Did you try this?:

QuoteOnce Downloaded through Steam go to the main game DIR & make a file called commandline.txt

inside of it write -dx10

or if you want just set this in launch options on steam.

Make sure to have the newest version is wine i had this game runing with wine 2.12-staging

Once you run the have you may get a black screen or window just press ALT & Enter a few time's & you should get video it show after some trying.

Ingame you may get audo problems if so just pause the game go over to settings a scroll through them that should fix it.
It's from the HowTo/Notes section of the test result.

Anybody recently got GTA5 working? I'm using non-staging on Arch.

I've seen some pretty good videos for GTA V on Wine using DXVK.

Yes, after some tricks I managed it to work with dxvk. Check this link. I got wine prefix with scripts from there.

GTA V works with AMDGPU-PRO and DXVK on my machine. RADV on the other hand is hard freezing my computer

zero issues for me with DXVK and nvidia. performs -10 FPS compared to windows on similar hardware, which is amazing. No freezes, no crashes noticed yet. currently on 396.24 drivers but worked great with 396.18.05/.08 also

I tried it on Antergos with an RX 580 and it froze right before rendering the first 3D frames.

Total noob here, so cannot know if it is related. I've read at the DXVK github that too many shaders are compiled at the start of the game and that will freeze everything. Workaround seems to be to compile some things beforehand. But I could be wrong, and didn't have enough knowledge to try that.

You only need vulkan libs from amdgpu-pro. I Just made a PKGBUILD for arch users
https://github.com/horstderheld/amdgpu-pro-vulkan-installer

I just use it for games, that have radv/llvm related problems, like gta5.
