I was finally able to come back to Baldur's Gate II for a bit over the Victoria day long weekend.




Considering that the only way inside Watcher's Keep is by being in possession of the Vigil Stone, how Jaheira was able to somehow catch up with me to harangue me about Harper business is a complete mystery. Regardless, I need her slot in the party for Yoshimo right now thank you very much... a dungeon needs a rogue.

Not exactly pleased with this puzzle; as someone who is red-green colour blind I found it quite difficult to differentiate between the blue and the purple:


Then I went and killed my first dragon:

it has been a while since I exercised my Quake bits.

Just a friendly PSA that the native version of Dear Esther now works on (radeonsi) Mesa. It's one, of a fortunate few. native games that needed a compatibility OpenGL context.

I had no idea [this](https://www.revoltrace.net/downloads.php) existed. Quite fun, but the Linux port was badly broken, it needed a lot of files renamed. Presumably the person who did the port never tried running it on a native file system...

Got the Hexen + Heretic package from Steam today, I heard so much about these games and yet I never played them until today. It's a shame Heretic 2 is missing. Still, it's worth the 10€ price tag. I'm currently running them with GZDoom, as for Hexen 2 I've yet to setup a native engine for it, most likely will use Darkplaces.




A note to DRM-Free users: While these games can only be obtained through Steam (digitally speaking), you don't need the client and you can even use a native open source engine to play them.

I finally got back to my Shadows of Amn campaign of Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition at long last and paid my final respects to Firkraag:

I have honestly not had the time or energy for playing many games as of late, but I did jump back into Quake III: Arena for a little bit tonight.

Played on Hurt Me Plenty difficulty. Not that bad, and it took a BFG10K to end my Perfect streak.

Literally just got done playing it :) Still one of the best.

So after my performance there I decided that I would create a fresh default session and try to win the game on Hardcore:



I am at the Xaero fight now, and I had lost only four of the twenty four matches that I played. I expect to lose a whole lot more by the time I am finished.
