I never thought I'd say this, but I had fun in an RWD car in Sweden. The Manta is such a gentle beast. Heavy but predictable. My run was maybe a bit too careful and I'm sure the usual suspects will leave me far behind, but I'm happy with my driving in any case.

Had lots of fun as well. Few mistakes here and there. Stupid mistake on the last stage where i reversed myself into snowbank. But yeah it was enjoyable overall.

S1: Spin on the hairpin + lots of gear shifting mistakes at the beginning of the stage
S2: Clean
S3: Clean
S4: Spin with reverse
S5: Clean
S6: Spin and got stuck into snowbank when reverse was used, around 10 sec stuck there :(

Monaco done.
Took some time to get a setup to my liking, enjoyed the snowy bits, so nice to drive on the ice with a RWD.
Had pretty clean run, quite careful at places and few small gear changing mistakes here and there. Last stage was unlucky, i cut the hairpin a bit, im quite sure i didnt even touch the crowd, but somehow i got reset and +15 sec :( . On the first stage i had the bug where my car spawned way back on the startline, that made me loose another 2-3 sec

anyway, Summary:
S1-S5: Clean
S6: Cut inside on hairpin, +15 sec penalty

I tried to do my run earlier today, but my broken old GPU made it difficult. I already had to drive the first stage twice, but gave up the second time the GPU threw a hissy fit. I'll give it another go later tonight or tomorrow. The Manta was fun though. I love how it forces me to be extra careful, but it also makes me wish I had a proper wheel and pedals.

I decided to drive the Lancia this season because I always use the Manta. Finding it very challenging to drive.

Finished my run. I got stuck on a snow bank on the fourth stage and after that it was just spin after spin. I got my head back into the game for the last stage and there I spun only once. Yay.

Finland Done, Quite enjoyed. Super fast and bumpy, love the RWD in those situations. Had couple of mistakes here and there also, but nothing too major. 3rd stage was the worst.

S1,2: Clean

I did Finland as well. Odd stages went fine but I made lots of mistakes on the even ones. One of those mistakes ended up in a penalty on the last stage.

Great video Xpander. I like watching and trying to work out where I can try push a bit harder.

Germany done. Terrible. I dont like tarmac in this game. Didnt get the break balance right on the first 2 stages, got it better on the last 4, but i feel i drove too slow anyway.

I gave greece a try. Screen froze twice during the first stage, and the game just locked up during the second. I'll try again tomorrow.

Next event should be better. There was a pretty good deal on an RX 580 on Friday, I just had to order one.

On another note, I seem to be better at the game the less I play it. I really only play now to compete in the league. And I seem to be improving. Where as before I played it everyday and seemed stuck at a certain level.
I really hope the league stays alive as I still really enjoy and look forward to it each week.

Ohh very nice. Even without the bigger mistakes i made, it would have been close, but well mistakes are mistakes. I had small ones everywhere ofc also like going a bit wide and loosing momentum for the corners but that's normal. Looks like you have improved quite a bit or i'm going backwards :D. I'm also only driving the league events.

By the end of the second stage i was leading over 6 sec. 3rd stage mistake took my lead down to virtually zero. 4th stage, i dunno what happened there, can't remember any major mistakes (i know i was careful on the later parts of the stage cause its narrow there and hitting a rock wall can kill your tire), but lost another 4 sec there to you it seems. 5th stage was the worst for me, when i went out and had a long trip before i got back to road, lost 10 sec there :) then last stage i took 5 sec back. Just doing some analyzation :) Doesn't change the result. Looking forward to UK also.

Greece done, and surprisingly my GPU crapped out only once. My driving wasn't great, but at least I was consistent. Until the last stage all my runs were around 12-14 secs slower than the fastest time. I was losing my concentration on the last one and took a couple of detours.

I should probably be better at this after almost 400 hours, but at least I can always filter our league results by "Controller" on Racenet and feel like a winner. :P

Not me, sadly DiRT 4 is not the DiRT Rally (Waiting for DiRT Rally 2, hope feral ports it). Its more arcade game and with boring tracks. But feel free to create a League if there are people who have this.

@Xpander Yeah I need to get a bit better still to beat you if you make no mistakes. A flawless run is pretty rare though I guess.

@chancho_zombie I got the game, played it a little. I would try it in a league and have a go. Maybe that will make me enjoy it more.

@tuubi That filter thing is funny. Before I got my wheel, I kinda did the same at first. I actually think I was better at the game with the controller. I remember giving Xpander more of a challenge. Maybe he got just got better tho. /shrugs

@chancho_zombie It does have simulation mode, but it still doesn't feel right like dirt rally. I have been told that if you look past that and play it a good 5 hours at least, that you will get used to it, and it feels great. So my plan is to give it a really good go before I go uninstalling it.

Greece was going badly, then worse, then I fell off the track, in one of the "unrecoverable" areas. DNF :(

Must admit I'm struggling more than usual with the RWD vehicles - I suppose they're the ones I've used least, and they handle so differently to the rest of the vehicles.

Any idea about wheels/ffb in proton? (beyond what is in the issue thread). The last report on the matter suggested they were working, but without feedback - but that was a month ago, and things have moved quickly in Proton.
