Reigns: Game of Thrones - The game only saves when you die
Rooster Apr 25, 2019
There doesn't seem to be a way to save progress during the actual reign. When I quit the game and start it again, it always starts at the last death. Which is horrible, since I have no idea how long will I be able to last before dying each reign.

Is this the same for you guys, or is that some sort of bug only I have?

It's a "feature", not a "bug" (it's difficult to have a very long reign for what I can tell, I manage to survive through one winter with the majority of the characters - only failed with Tyrion and Cersei - but never have manage to survive a second one, as the Others will come back). :)

I understand that, but there are way too many scenarios where I lose progress because of it (I have to suddenly leave, I only want to play the game for 10 min etc...). Also, my reigns usually last for about 20min, which is way too long to just lose it because the dev was too lazy to properly implement a save game feature.

Not to mention, I bought this game because it seemed like the sort of game I can just play for 5 minutes and still have fun, but I guess that idea's out of the window.

Well, I don't think that most of my reigns usually last for about 20 min (I've 12 hours on the game according Steam, and I think that I have more than 36 reigns in it, probably far more than that), perhaps I'm more quick at switching cards (and less good at surviving ^^)... but yes I don't think the game is intended for 10 min gaming sessions (probably more 30 min). :)
