Hello,

I wrote some Lutris scripts for retro games, either to facilitate the installation of a game known as difficult to install on Linux, add feature(s) to a game that was not available in the existing Lutris scripts or just because the install scripts not exist yet.

So I took a look at your scripts, I have some of these games on GOG and wanted to seriously try Lutris this time.
I tried the Rayman Origins one, but it's stuck at the installation process, after the extraction of the games files from the GOG installer.

Done.
Waiting on children
Exit with returncode 0

Still "installing game data" but no changes for a long time now...

About your script for Oddworld, I think you made a mistake as it show this:

This script will install "Atlantis: The Lost Tales" Gog edition with support for modern resolution...

my "Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee" and other scripts are not yet validated by Lutris moderators team.
If you want to test the last version, click on "Show unpublished installers", "edit installer","test this installer".

I tried the Rayman Origins one, but it's stuck at the installation process, after the extraction of the games files from the GOG installer.
perhaps a window hiding behind another? At a moment the script launch the localisation window, you could choose your preferred language here.

1) Yes I know that, it's strange but Lutris only published the description of my first draft, not the last one. Anyway it will be corrected when the script will be validated.

2) for Rayman, could you start Lutris with the -d option, in a terminal, paste the log on my github page? I need to know where your install freeze.

Did you install a recent wine version from Lutris interface?
--> click on runners, Wine, manage wine version and install a recent 64 bits Wine version.

Lutris uses the Steam runtime.

I though with Lutris, any script provided the entire installation of a game without need to configure anything.
But in the runners/Wine management of Lutris, for now it uses the system one (wine staging 4.8).

You choose Wine version only one time. Then it will be the default version for all games. The Lutris Wine versions are far advanced than the one you use on your system.

Why it is not a good point for you to use the Steam runtime?

OK so which one to install? The names are not very clear.

Cause firstly I don't use Steam at all on my system, and I find it pretty dumb/pity to have to use Steam software to install a GOG game. It's like boring IMO.

Just install a Wine 4.x version. I could ask the script to install a Wine version. But this mean in several months the wine version will be totally obsolete.

Lutris use a part of the Steam runtime but not only this one: https://github.com/lutris/lutris/wiki/Lutris-Runtime

On Linux, gamers and devs have to focus only on one objective: we want to play, have large catalog access and install the easy way possible, think "console", you click you play. Last years Valve helped to move towards this objective. Gog and Lutris helped too. But there are still a lot of work to do.

I installed the Wine 4.3 from Lutris.

and what about Oddworld?
I just reinstalled Rayman Origins, it takes time to install, you should wait until he finishes. Right click, "configure", "runner", "wine version", it uses the wine version you recently installed?

Yeah it was the right wine version, 4.3. But when i launched the script this time, Lutris installed automatically an another version "protonified" but in the end it didn't work either.

I tried my scripts on two very different computer, they worked. Your Lutris install seems not correct. Did you use ntfs partition? Anyway I invit you to ask help on the official Lutris forum:

I checked all the dependencies for Lutris, and it seems nothing is missing.
Have you tried on a Manjaro/Arch system?
I'm a bit disappointed though.
No I don't have any NTFS partition.

I think I will just uninstall it. :S:

I'm using Ubuntu, I don't know how Lutris support is for arch distribution.
I'm really convinced you should report issue on Lutris github, this is how open source makes progress.

updated: Star Wars - Episode 1 Racer - GOG: all graphics options at maximum, hiding graphics options ON, now X360 fully compatible with rumble ON. The intro cinematics have now audio on.

new: Beyond Good and Evil - GOG, it's a very nice game with some weird sound bugs. But I found workarounds, I played several hours, it's now stable.
Added true widescreen without stretched nor black bands, no audio desync or loop.
As the Gog Edition does not support natively gamepad, I joined to this game x360 Antimicro profile and another one for Steam Controller.
