A bit expensive, but in general the Tuxedo (Clevo barebone) laptops are quite ok with great Linux support:

I didn't check, but what do similar spec Windows laptops cost?

I bought a nice Tuxedo laptop a few years ago, and back then it cost about the same as a similar spec Windows one, so I assumed this is just what such Gaming laptops cost these days?

Hm, personally, I'm not a laptop kind of guy. I prefer desktop computers. This thing sounds hefty, though. I'm sure it can deliver some serious punch. But yeah, for that price I feel like I could put together two desktop PC's that would still blow this laptop out of the water- based on AMD hardware, of course.

However, if one buys this laptop and then keeps it for, let's say, the next five to seven years (or even more), the price isn't so bad. (And if you consider how all the resources for this thing -- or in fact, any electronic device -- have been gathered and how this thing has been produced, it's far too cheap anyway.)
