Title: Alien vs Predator (2010)
Tchey 11 Jul 2020
Hi,

On my PC with Linux Manjaro, the game starts, but crash to desktop while doing tutorial, always at the same moment.

Predator : crash when looking at the third predator, at the very beginning of the tuto.
Alien : crash when hitting the guy the last time before he dies, about 3 minutes into tuto.
Marine : crash later, while trying to open a door, after about 6 minutes i’d say.

Tried with Proton 4 and 5, tried with launch option PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command%, tried with copy of the Windows version of AvP_DX11.exe and AvP.exe installed from Lutris... All attempts lead to the same result, always. Tried with different graphic options as well.

Any magic trick to share ?

Might help to post log files of when it crashes and looking through the actual [GitHub bug report](https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/530).

Hi,

It’s "fixed", i had help from a Steam user, pointing me to a cracked version of the game to get the two exe, and now it works...

Sad to be "forced" to crack a file to be able to play a game i bought, but well... It runs now.

I know there's a form of DRM that generates EXEs, which Proton doesn't support. Perhaps that's part of the issue, could be entirely wrong though. It is annoying when you have to go through hoops for stuff you own.

Next step, changing the terrible FOV, but the only option seems to use an external user-made exe, so WINE, and it doesn’t "find" the game running.

Also, alt-tab kill the sounds, must restart the game, other users have same issue.

Not sure if i try a refund, or keep it. I loved the "old" Alien vs Predator, this one seems "almost as good" but with heavy issues. Really this console-ish FOV is horrible.

In my case works (steam no cracked) but with regular wine with all 3 factions: marine - alien and predator
