Steam Deck Freezing Help
Jayare29 Sep 17, 2022
Hello I am new to the forum and this is my first post. My name is Jayare pronounced JR. So the help i am looking for is i have a Steam Deck that is going through the freezing issue on some games. I am starting the RMA sequence but trying to deep dive the issue while i wait.

My issue is worst on GTA5 and Cyberpunk 2077, and is annoying on desk job and horizons.

My ask is if anyone else has a stutter issue while navigating the Steam OS when Thermal Power Limiting is enabled at 15Watts?

What i am investigating now as a test is that when i launched horizons normally it would freeze up fairly reliably, but when i enable Thermal Power Limit then launch game and once the game loads turn off limiting i can play until the battery dies. I was wondering if anyone on the forums can confirm this same symptoms.

Update fro anyone else looking into the Freezing. The freezing has gone away to the point where i can game just fine until the battery dies. So far i am able to play Horizon zero dawn, GTA5, cyberpunk 2077 and red dead2 without issue. What i did with my deck was the 1.) increase swap file size. 2.)increase vram 3.) downloaded GE-Proton 4.) capped refresh and FPS at 50.
Don't know if it is these things that fixed it or if i am just getting lucky after stubbornly continuing to try and play games.
