I disagree. While the production value and sound design was better in EA/Codemasters WRC game, the rest was pretty bad. You couldnt even swap individual tires on cars like in real life, the handling was kinda crap with the car pivot point being strange and way too much front grip. you couldn't drive off fences which were like concrete blocks, road surface visuals were awful, tarmac handling was also very bad. Just to mention few of the issues.
now the KT games production value and sound design was pretty bad, but the gameplay and handling was miles ahead.
By Xpander, 27 May 2025 at 4:09 pm UTC
Completely disagree. The previous WRC games were crap that came across as budget titles. It's sad that they are apparently the only ones who would take the license.

I mean this will be nice, once it works, but currently even fwupd is semi broken on SteamOS. Other distros have no such issue and automatically do Bios and Fw updates as part of normal updates or with apps like firmware ( https://flathub.org/apps/org.gnome.Firmware ). I hope they implement better QA for some apps like this. The bigger issue is adoption by hardware vendors. If you look at https://fwupd.org/ and search for your favorite brand, do they have firmware submitted? A lot dont, or have a very limited number of devices. I suggest people contact their device manufacturers and request they start submitting it...

I was ready to be BIG mad at the devs for this one, but I will welcome Splitgate 2 back into the Linux Fold under probation. Surprisingly, it runs at a rock solid 120fps for me. Hopefully, they can work on their bug list and keep the Linux support intact.

Good. Better than EA/Codemasters at least.
Hopefully they don't switch to Unreal Engine and keep using their own engine for next WRC Game.
Its 2027 and onwards though. What happens with 2026 season then i wonder. Can Nacon update their Generations game to include 2026 season as DLC for example or something...

It's a shame there won't be another EA WRC game. It had been the best one in a long time. Guess EA wants Codemasters to make F1 games only from now on. I still hate that EA bought them.

LACT is also superb, and on Flathub, so installation was a breeze. Totally painless.
It's allowed me to create a slightly more aggressive fan curve that took my GPU temperature from 80 degrees to around 65 degrees under heavy load, simply by spinning up earlier. I also slightly increased the TDW limit to 315, which was at like 306/340 for some reason. That seemed to give me 60fps on Helldivers 2, unless the recent patches also had optimisation behind the scenes that I'm not aware of.
These are great tools.

I have to admit that Noita has ruined me for just about every "create your own spells" game. I'm still playing it now, after well over 800 hours.
Obviously a very different style of game, this though.

Very different style of game, but the Guild of Dungeoneering (https://store.steampowered.com/app/317820/Guild_of_Dungeoneering_Ultimate_Edition/) has a similar mechanic of laying tiles to create your dungeon.
I'll probably end up giving this a go, but I agree, any mechanic that can so easily cut you off from completing a level is flawed and unsatisfactory.

I played the whole thing by myself several times, and it is a great game. There are a few parts where playing with bots does lack a certain human touch, but otherwise the bots do a pretty good job. Sometimes even better than people, because they play at your pace.
So go play it. It's worth it.

This is super promising! I really hope SteamOS Manager eventually integrates SteamCMD natively. That would open the door to fully remote game management. Imagine being able to wake your Steam Deck with a magic packet, then SSH in or trigger an action from Home Assistant (or whatever) or the Steam app on your phone to start pre-downloading a game while you're still at work (yes, my internet is really slow). Walk through the door, pick up your Deck from the Dock, and it’s ready to go.
If 'EnterDownloadMode' is what I think it is (a low-power background download state with the screen off) then this is exactly what the community has been asking for. Combined with remote wake and some lightweight automation, the Steam Deck becomes an even more powerful hybrid between console and PC.

Honestly a standard interface to do this kind of things on a notebook would be very useful already.
On my FW16 I have to use one tool to set cpu power profile or a cap on the clocks, a different tool if I want to adjust the cpu tdp or battery charge modes with any granularity, and a third tool to manage the dgpu power limits.
I have many more tunables than on the Deck, but my ability to control the power usage is worse as it's just too confusing.
If we had a standard application layer that could be even used by e.g. the desktop to expose just a little more control for power modes I could make it so that the different power modes affect the system in a way I find sensible.

Thank God, we've been waiting for this feature for ages! It's interesting that they made this open source though. Maybe they want a universal API to hook into, so that future hardware support for SteamOS is much easier?
By Pyretic, 27 May 2025 at 8:35 am UTC
Here's the fun thing: in their full specification, it includes a feature named "EnterDownloadMode" which the code comments notes, "Enter a low power mode for downloads and get a handle that will keep this mode active until all obtained handles are dropped".

I used CoreCtrl for a while in the past to tame my old GPU fan and it worked great. I've had no use for it since I changed gpu which is quiet by default. Still sad to see it go as it was very nice piece of SW. I wish all the best to the developer and hope he's alright.
News - After their publisher was banned from Steam, Bioprototype returns and it's free
By Anza, 27 May 2025 at 5:36 am UTC
There doesn't seem to be much information about it. Only reason I was able to find that there were fake reviews. But even that was guess from a Reddit poster. I guess though if reason was something like that and developers tell what the reason was, they acknowledge that they were complicit in the scheme.
As for the game, it has some learning curve. The organ system is not explained in full, but each organ has some text that describes the rules. I was able to glimpse into bit wackier stuff already. There's some rarity system, so I might not seen the best stuff yet.
Seems bit unpolished overall.
