Thanks for the info! Seems like I was indeed too harsh on this particular developer. :) I guess I was frustrated with too many silly promises from other devs. Well, I'll take a closer look at the games from this one.

Looks nice, will they now make ones for laptops?

I paid the full price as well since the game looked awesome. I shouldn't have done this since I've known in advance there's a dead multiplayer and a average single player at best.

Why didn't they step up their game and made a nice looking and fun to play DOW III? But it's not only them, it's also Feral who didn't manage to work together with relic to get Multiplayer working. They might have this mentioned troubles because of the static game engine, but anyways, people could talk and there're possibilities like Github so they could collaborate and Feral could have sent in commits and so on.... Many possibilities, they took none and surrendered. It's a shame.

Yeah, that is the worst takeaway of this whole situation.
Who knows what they're going to do to the series...

But AoE being Windows-exclusive is not really news. It has been since the inception of the series.

Quoting: omer666So the rampant negativity won in the end. Well, whatever...
There's no rampant negativity here.
Just a game that's all-around pretty underwhelming, developed with a mystifying lack of vision or understanding of what people actually liked about the previous games and design decisions that are borderline inane (mobile-junk-like unit unlockables in my RTS game, no thanks).

Even developers themselves are aware of that.

"Professional" journos liked the game somewhat because they never really play games for long and are mostly just amazed by pretty or pretentious things.

Wait, this time its a native game (is it?) by a publisher who has full control over it's code base but still doesn't manage cross OS multiplayer?

Quoting: eridanired123I'm waiting for AMD to release Ryzen for laptops before buying a new one, is it known if a launch date has been defined yet?

There are already a few raven ridge laptops for sale with the 2500U/2700U. Many more are coming soon.

HP

Acer

Acer 2700U + RX 560

Lenovo is coming out with a model soon too, but I hear that might be single channel ram.

That's quite right and the whole line-up is disappointing.

EDIT: AMD APUs are ideal for lower-end Steam machines, aren't they?

I liked this video. This guy tested a lot of games, power comsuption and more.

I think that the performance is really good, but it suffers a bit in some games in 1080p.

2200G have better price than 2400G however this apus is for lite gaming aka 720p

However needs dual channel memory aka 2 sticks of ram and good memory frecuency aka 3200mhz (more expensive)

In other thing maybe when them have next gpu arquitecture (2020-2021) no more gcn*, maybe igpu improve so much

Quote*Actually them needs many shaders to make similar geforce performance (gpu performance with same quantity of vram and bus) case:

Geforce GT 1030: 384 shaders

Radeon RX 550: 640 shaders

Vega 11: 704 shaders

Without forget more shaders needs more space aka bigger gpu and other issues related case tdp

Woah, what an awkward game to play so far. Not sure what any of the keys do and I got stuck trying to get into what I assume is my ship. Or maybe it's not my ship, idk. The game is pretty unclear where I'm supposed to go and minor stuff like how much money I have.

Getting the same problem as shawnsterp too, which annoys me.

Quoting: TheRiddickI hope Raven Ridge 2 will work in AM4+ motherboards also, and that they offer a 8core version running at 4.5ghz, NOW that would be awesome, it's what I will hold out for to replace my 1600 CPU with.

Next generation of APUs is codenamed "Horned Owl" IIRC. They probably still won't have eight cores. The next immediate round of APUs would more likely be a refresh similar to Kaveri -> Godavari, same arch but revised manufacturing process and higher clocks w/ lower power.

Robot loves Kitty are a husband and wife team. They are only two people, so give them some slack. They always delivered on their Linux promises in the past and build their games specifically so they are cross platform. There's no "if" here, there will be Linux support, you can be sure of it.

If you want to know more about what they do, check their website, discord and twitch channels, they do development stream very often and are great when it comes to community interaction. Seriously, they are the perfect example of a small indie team that deserves your support.

I've been following them since the beta of Legend of Dungeon, and while I'm probably biased, they are one of the best small indie team ever.

I have been reading some of the early reviews of these 2 new AMD APUs, and I am very happy that AMD has come out with such great technology at a such a keen price. I think this will be good for Linux gaming, as this gives a strong system for playing the majority of Linux game titles at a relatively low-cost, but not the typical AAA performance hogging games that are not ported to Linux. Also, I think many people will not be enthusiastic when building a low-cost gaming machine to then buy a copy of Windows 10, particularly at its future higher price.

Quoting: liamdaweI think you're being way too harsh. For one single person, managing the development and support of multiple platforms is not exactly an easy task. That said, they've done it before with their previous game. I don't doubt their intentions at all.

I don't really know the developer, so I'm not really putting these words into their mouth. If they made a Linux port themselves for their previous games, then the hopes are rather high.

It's just that you can't know that from just the phrase "Linux will come soon". Maybe some kind of "Port Possibility Rating" could be attached at the end of articles on games where the situation is unclear. A game made by a developer who made their own ports in multiple times in the past would get a rather high rating. Certain aspects would lower the rating, for example if the previous port(s) were done by a contractor or were of bad quality. That way people wouldn't have to research that info on their own.

Field of View is one of the first options. I think it is global, not just for first person mode.

Excellent. I might just need to give this a try then.

OK. I guess that is a popular thing, with rogue-likes and such. I never could see the attraction myself.

I have never found a game where I thought: "Wouldn't this be better if I lost all of my game progress every so often?"
