Not everyone agrees to that hard-rule. It's not a one size fits all rule.

There's also the people who purchased it on the previous promises of a Linux port and got stung by it, quite a lot of people I imagine.

Fantastic to see it working so well, although it does seem to stutter a lot, so hopefully performance can be worked out. Still, that's quite incredible progress for Wine.

Hehe, already own 10 of the 16 titles mentioned above. Tempted by Tyranny on sale, but resisting the urge for now.

Here's one I bought earlier today: Starship Traveller Fighting Fantasy Adventure Book recreated on computer. It's 75% discount (99 pence) and if you played the books (and like them) then this is a great alternative. Also, it comes with Linux Steam key, Linux DRM-free download, and Android versions - not too shabby, eh.

Quoting: GrifterJust play the games and enjoy them, in particular Strife, instead of bitching about how dead it is, go and play it! While it is less populated it's far from dead, I still get a match after just a minute of queueing, in my opinion Strife is still the best moba.

Well this simply isn't true, I can't play the game because even if I get a game after queueing a while, the delay in the game became unbearable, every single action require 2-10 seconds to "register", the delay must've got this bad because they shut down some servers, as it used to be fine. I'm from Eastern Europe btw, so switching servers isn't really an option since it only makes my delay worse.

Europa Universalis IV: Third Rome released, some thoughts
By Philadelphus, 14 June 2017 at 6:12 pm UTC

Yeah, the Russian colonization ability is the biggest draw for me—maybe we'll finally see Russia expanding eastwards and actually owning Siberia by the end of the game now. Trying to come up with a solution to this problem is what led me to make my very first mod for EU IV, where I played around with increasing Russia's settlers per year bonus to see if that would make the colonization faster (spoiler: not really, at least not without increasing it to frankly ludicrous amounts).

It's still not stock Wine staging, but needs sample_c_lz patch, so you'd need to build Wine from source. But otherwise yes. It's already very playable.

I thought it'd be nice to get this one since I did not pay nearly enough for Gone Home. But not finding a link between the two games on Steam, I dug a bit deeper. It appears that the "Fullbright Company". One of them original devs started a new company and is now doing "Where the water tastes like wine", which I saw something of on one of the E3 streams. The others went on as just "Fullbright". Which makes me wonder what the function of the dev that is not part of this game was in Gone Home.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyI'd agree that there seems little chance the uberwealthy are going to be willing to share any of their stuff, that they will in fact go to extreme lengths to avoid having to do so, and indeed are already demonstrably willing to live with the recessions and instability that accompany lack of demand in the economy as long as their share gets more lopsided.

indeed. Capitalism is just a tool that once again is corrupted by human nature via Corporatism. No system is perfect.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyCommunism doesn't actually fail hard. It's not a system I support but there's no reason to be unrealistic, pretending it failed hard is just American mythmaking

Communism is an idealistic system which on paper offers many things that other systems do not. But the issue is that the paper is burned by the basic desires and drives of human nature which cannot be avoided. Even an ideal system can be flawed if everyone is not willing to play by the same exacting rules.. it's the enforcement of those rules that has caused many millions of deaths and low standards of living.

There is no perfect system.

I'm pretty sure the phrase "Neil deGrasse Tyson Presents:" means "Neil deGrasse Tyson got paid a fat licensing fee for his name".

Well, eff *"Neil deGrasse Tyson Presents: Space Odyssey."*

PAYDAY 2 - Ultimate Edition is now live
By Pompesdesky, 14 June 2017 at 11:58 am UTC

Quoting: wojtek88I saw the price and I laughed badly. Seriously, WTF? There is a givaway of 5 million copies of basic version of the game, and a moment later there is an ultimate edition of a game for 45 euro? 4 years old game for 45 euro? What is it - GTA V?
I can't imagine what would DLCs have to include in order to force me to pay 45 euro for them...
I'm not against paying 45 euro for game - there are games worth such an amount of money. But seriously - ultimate version of a game that you could have in basic version for free? I can't understand that business model.
The other topic is that gaming industry is in terrible shape. Most of the game developers try to sell us the same product once again for ridiculous price. The whole idea of remasters, game of the year edition and ultimate editions is pure evil.
I can understand game of the year edition for games that have some interesting story DLCs, for example Witcher 3. 2 great DLCs that enhance main story - brilliant, I understand why they were created.
But Payday 2...
I may be ignorant here, but I have to ask. Seriously - what new content adds Ultimate edition to basic version of the game? What can possibly be created in the same multiplayer focused product to force people to pay 45 euro for it? I could google it, but honestly I want to read it in this thread and read your opinion about current state of the gaming industry.

The thing is that before the Ultimate Edition the game plus all DLCs amounted to more than 170€, so in that respect 45€ can be seen as "reasonable". On top of that they gave away the base game to a lot of people and I guess the price to get all the missing DLCs will be less than the full price for the Ultimate Edition, that is not as evil as you seem to put it ;)

By the way they're giving away codes for 2 DLC's :

PAYDAY 2 - Ultimate Edition is now live
By Nanobang, 14 June 2017 at 11:45 am UTC

Quoting: scaineIf they've fixed in-game voice chat, I might actually buy this .... I often do as well, but there was a period of a few weeks where I was regularly kicked from heists for ignoring in-game voice chat. I think it'll mainly only affect stealth missions, where the later missions are basically impossible without proper collaboration and timing.

I wouldn't let that stop you. I use a mic (because Win players can hear our mic) and tell people early on that my game is "buggy" and I can't hear chat. People are usually cool with that. I'd even say that most people seem to use text chat, anyway. As far as stealthing goes, I really don't have much first-hand experience, I play heists "loud" exclusively at this point. Payday's community is generally very helpful and pretty tolerant of newbies, but there's always been a fraction of buttheads who are too quick to kick without cause or explanation. Don't let them drive you away.

Quoting: DribbleondoThey haven't and likely won't. Annoying as that may be, I legitimately never knew anyone who even used it.

I use it pretty regularly, actually; (Though, I'm inclined to agree that they're unlikely to fix it.) I use it to say a quick "thanks" when someone gets me up, and lately I use it to offer bits of quick advice to newer players.
