Quoting: ArehandoroStill can't play Final Fantasy IX :/ Keep receiving lots of d3d errors.

I played through FFIX with Wine version 2.0 with no graphical issues. Sometimes the sound started crackling but that can be solved by restarting.

In my case begins work since 2.1 without major issues and stable

I can't even launch the game or the launcher. Have tried with and without CSMT, changing the main OS on winecfg, etc. Will try to follow mrdeathjr youtube video this week :) (Gracias!)

I never did get why you did these streams in the middle of the day when people are at work/school etc.

Is it because of Feral's schedule ?
I did a quick search and they are located in the UK so I would assume they work 9 to 17 like everybody else.
Yes, we have to go by when Feral are in their offices to do it.

Part of the reason why I will be doing an entirely separate event every week in the UK evening time for everyone else.

Also I assume even if you tried to do the stream at 5 pm it wouldn't have worked because afaik it's common to hang out in pubs and share a few pints after work in the UK (a tradition I personally would love to see in my country as well ;) )
Anyway: great news!

Stardock CEO asking to see interest in Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation on Linux with Vulkan

Quoting: EhvisI generally share mirv's opinion on the matter. I don't like these threads, whether they are started by users or developers. I don't think they serve any practical use. Only a small number will users will ever reply to them. So after that, you're still left with the same question: how many people could potentially be interested. Ideally you'd want developers to create a port because it's the right thing to do. It happens (kudos to those that do), but the norm is that the investment must be earner back with profit. So then developers still have to go back to the general statistics, decide if there are reasons why sales may be higher or lower among Linux users, and determine whether this is worth their porting investment. So if the thread is useful at all, it will be to point the finger at how few people responded and that a port is not feasible because of it.

So no, I won't respond to such requests, even if I want the game.

Also keep in mind that there are not only developers in a company. Management often makes decisions like these, and I wouldn't be surprised if this thread was from a developer trying to show management that there's money to be made on the platform.

Not every game studio is a two person company with a CEO that's a developer with strong moral principles. As sad as it might be, a lot of them are here to do what companies do; maximize profit (though there are some outliers).

I for one wouldn't throw the rock at this person outreaching to us.
This person, as mentioned in the article, IS the CEO of Stardock.

Whoops, I just realized that when reading the notification title.
My bad, I read the article a few days back, but the comments only today.

Anyway, it was meant as a general remark, not necessarily a theory for this story. And to be fair, CEOs as well sometimes have to explain their motives tho the sales Dept :P
Or could be asking on the behalf of someone else/after a team meeting, or something different altogether.

What I mean here, is that it is not that simple to judge their motives, and they shouldn't be speculated upon (or at least, you shouldn't act on them). All we know is that they are interested in knowing who is interested; just say so if you are ;)

Although I can understand @mirv, it is not necessarily a good thing to just ignore completely this thread, especially if we can't tell the exact logic behind it.

Just my 2 cents, but I hope this is clearer.

Quoting: wvstolzingAre you referring to the 'connection lost' error on UPlay?

While there are still some connectivity issues with UPlay, it works much better than it used to (on Wine Staging only). I'm referring to the actual Ubisoft DRM used in some of their games. For example, to play Assassin's Creed 2, you have to start UPlay in offline mode, then completely disconnect from the internet then start the game. Otherwise the game will just crash at the Ubisoft logo.

Anyone tried if maby Paladins is running again?

Paladins and Ubisoft DRM are not fixed in this release. If there is better anti-cheat support in this version, it must be somewhere else. On the other hand, I did manage to start up Batman Arkham Knight which is supposedly still protected by Denuvo, didn't get to the in-game menu but getting to the intro videos is a start.

IG for me :) but I am a huge IG fan (from tabletops) and DoW1 WinterAssult was <3

the IG make an appearance in DoW3 single-player so I would not be surprised if the next expansion contains them. Nec would be great but I have bad memories from DoW1 DarkCrusade... the Nec were beyond imba (Tau were fun tho).

Right now DoW3 looks dead :( The steam discussion group is filled will trolls denouncing the game but in part they are sort of right. [H] are also dismissive of this game https://hardforum.com/threads/warhammer-dawn-of-war-iii.1898611/

What would be good is an 8th release & a new expansion announced.

Don;t let the negative reviews get you down.
Wait till someone on this site gets it and streams it (1 week or less i suspect)
The IG were in DoW 2 and 1. Safe bet they will be in Dow 3 also. OR someone mods them in :-p
(Although knowing the gaming community a nudity mod will come first)

And indeed the Necrons were a royal pain in the @$$

I have bought the original game few months ago and I am really disappointed. It is broken = unplayable, I can't click on anything (mouse clicks are ignored) and only 1/4 of 4k screen is used. They promised to fix it, but it's a few months now and it's still broken.

Can't recommend buying games from this company, their approach is awful...

Yea, sometimes there are real gems in the indie / smaller game sector. Sad that they're pretty rare. I felt a chill run down my spine just watching the trailer. Pretty sure I'll go for it, though, I prefer point&click adventures, this one looks very interesting.

A Story About My Uncle officially released for Linux

Quoting: PublicNuisanceI already beat it on Windows and own it on Steam but if they bring the Linux version to GOG I'd be happy to buy a Linux copy there. Would want to have a DRM free copy anyway.

The Linux version of A Story About my Uncle included in the Humble Indie Bundle 18 is DRMFREE.. Well.. All Linux games in that bundle are DRMFREE and I just purchase it for that reason.

Just checked it out and confirmed. Downlaoded it now. I still would buy a copy from GOG if they brought it over as I want to give their Linux version some money.

The GOG's edition of [A Story About my Uncle](https://www.gog.com/game/story_about_my_uncle_a) just added the Linux version and it's system requirements on the store page..

Parsec is another game streaming service, now with Linux support and it's blown me away

This idea is extremely interesting. The dilemma for me is I have a Windows 7 license, not a Windows 10 license (by choice), so I only have a couple more years of supported use. Is it worth dismantling my dual boot setup? Should I install a Windows VM on one of the desktops or a server in the house? That's not really an advantage. I still have to manage the OS if it's in my home no matter whether it's on my own tower or in a VM. Keeping the Windows VM on a rented server is ideal so I don't have to deal with Windows maintenance and security anymore. But now I can't avoid the monthly cost. I have friends that would possibly let me run a VM on their hardware, but with a gaming GPU? Probably not. And I'd still have to maintain the Windows VM myself.

So yeah, it's pretty neat, but I guess I'd rather have a PS4 to play the titles that don't make it to Linux. If you divide $300 / 12, that's about $25/mo for one year and you don't have to worry about play time racking up.

I've been looking forward to this game for a long time, mainly because I want a go-to Linux MMORPG. But I am mainly a PvE player with friends and only dabble in PvP here and there. If PvE stinks, then I will sadly skip AO.

Slime-san, an incredibly fast-paced platformer that takes place inside a worm
By Kithop, 29 May 2017 at 4:10 pm UTC

One of my friends (not really a Linux gamer though he does keep a Linux laptop on the side as his stream chat monitor/general purpose machine, while gaming on a Windows desktop) did a bit of a playthrough of this one a while back.

The little mini-arcade games are quite neat time-wasters that rip off established genres, and we spent a bunch of time watching him go through a Zelda-esque one fighting off progressively harder waves of baddies.

Then, 'oh, right, there's this platformer main game to get back to!'.

If it offers enough to be unique and engaging then I guess it might make a fun little time waster.
