Aren't you guys just tickled pink seeing all the diversity in what people are playing on Linux right now? I know I am. Too bad I haven't personally had time to play much of anything lately. Heck, my wife's used my Steam account more than I have in the last couple of weeks. Playing Papers, Please and Race the Sun. :)

Quoting: WorMzyOoh, I played the alpha of this briefly, and it was quite fun. There was a bug with grass rendering though, making the ground all black, which made exploring a bit difficult. It certainly looks like it'll be a fun game.

They fixed that very recently.

Like in 2015, still lots of DOTA and lots of Insurgency. Recently picked up the great adventure game named The Raven, by KingArt studio.

Divinity: Original Sin, Borderlands 2, and Shadows of Mordor! Come next month, I'll be firing through XCOM 2! :D

If Dark Souls 3 came to Linux, I'd barely have a reason to keep my Windows partition around.

I have been playing Armello, Dwarf Fortress, Cities: Skylines, ARK: Survival Evolved, and just recently Windward, The Long Dark and Saints Row IV.

EDIT: I also played through The Fall, which was a short, but good point&click story game.

Quoting: Halifax
Quoting: TheBossI couldn't put a kid to bed, slap on a VR headset and completely erase myself from a partner for an evening. It's weird, it's being isolated.

Well, IMO, that is just crazy talk for a married man. For day to day stuff (not special vaca/trips) I need several hours of self time every night - an occasional movie/dinner night, and a little cuddle time when I finally crawl into bed, I'm good!

But maybe I'm the weird one, I'm married but no kids - and that's the single biggest thing my wife never forgave me for. Sounds unrelated to this thread, but really it is. I started thinking about just how much self time I'd be losing if I knocked her up, and got *very* cold feet to the idea after that. Sure, I'll die old and alone, but I plan to have lots of Holo-Deck time leading up to that sad demise!

Off topic, seen as this article had a strange bias to it .. sorry, not bias but a bit of daddy bragging but I guess thats ok :P

Bringing a child into this world isn't 'autocomplete' anymore like traditionally it was.

It takes all your time ( some people like to mention that they have a lot of their own time when they have kids but I question just how connected to the experience they are ) It costs the best part of £300k / $450,000 (excluding contributing £50k/$80k) college education , Your relationship you had pre-kids changes ( not saying worse BTW, but changes you have things between you ) and of course look at the world today, I mean really, literally look at todays US/Euro news events and you have to decide if its going to be a nice world for them to live in given your personal current situation. Also you never stop being a parent, so nowadays its common for your kids to be around and still using the bank of mum n dad into their 30's ! but its only money..

That as an aside VR is super early adopter. We know the performance deficit on OpenGL and the often broken vsync and frame drops. We know that these things need great sync, great consistency and lots of performance, perhaps even Dual GPU! which doesn't work in Linux ootb.

TheBoss has a point, if your really serious about your family even though escapism is a great thing and much needed with all the pressure of work/family/bills life .. how are you going to hear if there is a problem ? An intruder ? Someone Slipping and hurting themselves ? Your wife shouting for help etc .. perhaps some open back headphones ? But how does it look to the SO/Children when your at home locked away not just in a room but with the VR TV strapped to your face every night ?

Total escapism is something you sacrifice as a parent for a VERY long time. And that's not just in the digital world, its the whole deal.

Mostly the Quake games :P

Co-op games I am playing are the Quakes and Victor Vran.

All the games I am playing for single player are Shadowrun Hong Kong and Divinity Original Sin... on and off, and just got Quake 4 installed natively, so probably that too after I am done with Quake 2.

How do you get Viking Conquest not to constantly crash every 2 minutes? (Original and Napoleons work flawlessly for me.)

Used to be super competitive in the game... But I haven't played in ages and just don't feel the need to go back.

Dying Light, Saints Row IV, Insurgency, Viking Conquest, KOTOR 2, ADOM (steam version). Picked all of these up on the winter holiday sale and I'm having a blast. Linux has come a long way since I started using it... Though that was only 4 years ago.

Finally put away Borderlands 2 after playing it for months on end and finishing the main game, starting it again in TVHM and playing through about half of it and finishing all of the story DLC (except for a few repetitive and arena DLC sidequests) until I decided that enough is enough.

Finished Batman: Arkham Asylum (under Wine, obviously) which is a very good game but not as great as most people make it out to be. Good looking game, nice combat, and good story, especially if you're a fan of the comics (the voice acting was *really* good for a video game).

Started The Talos Principle which is great so far, though a bit easy (not going for any stars right now) but I'm sure will get much harder soon. Also just started Apotheon which is good but I think I'll need to get used to its combat. I'm also slooowly going through a smattering of other long-running puzzle games (The Bridge, Munin, etc.) Looking into Grim Fandango and Spellunky and occasionally playing BlazeRush and LEGO Hobbit with my kids.

I need to start some long-lasting tough RPG like Wasteland 2 which I kickstarted but never touched. Is the Director's Cut pretty stable and fully patched at this point?
