My system freezes after a couple of minutes. When I'm changing anything on the options menu, like driver name, or something like that my hole computer freezes and I have to hard reset it.
Is there any workaround?

EDIT: I'm using nvidia 650ti, drivers version 355.11, 16Gb ram AMD AM3 64bits 4 cores

Saints Row IV now available on SteamOS and Linux
By kevie, 23 December 2015 at 11:14 pm UTC

I just love the Saints Row franchise, with a sale being on I bought the entire franchise pack. I just hope that the Linux ports continue, but I was more than happy to get Saints Row IV and Gat Out of Hell for £13, if the others come along it will be a complete bargain (I really hope they do as I love both SR 2&3)

Looking forward to testing out the new Steam Controller that Santa will be bringing me tomorrow night, christening it will be Borderlands 2 and Saints Row IV (I never thought I would be saying that a year ago, two of my favourite AAA titles on Linux).

Quoting: mr-eggdid you notice the games actual vsync drops about 15 - 20fps ? In this instance its better to just turn it off and use the compositor ( providing your using a decent one )

I never use vsync...it goes against my middle class sensibilities

Using radeonsi so far has yielded crashes. Not sure what's up (can't launch game). Maybe something to do with pthreads on my system as that's where the crash is occurring...

And it looks bloody great too. I particularly love the effect when you zoom in, the background becomes gradually more blury the further away it is. Great sense of depth.

Also it's worth mentioning that you can zoom in quite close on your characters (and ergo, explore closer the surroundings) to get a little more sense of "being there" than the often found static isometric view can offer (and that I hate).

Also, great voice acting and lots of humour!

The first impressions are fantastic, and if this is an indication then this game is fast climbing up towards my GOTY vote this year. It's got a fantastic metascore rating too: 90. That's a level for the absolute top releases to reach for.

I won't play no other game this xmas. As far as I am concerned, this is the xmas gift to Linux gamers this year.

Played it for the first time tonight and it runs very well. Averaging around 50-60 fps on mid-range PC. Runs smoothly with no crashes or stutters.

Specs are:

Ubuntu 14.04
Intel i3-4150
GTX-650
8Gb Ram

I think VP did a great job. Bioshock ran great also.

Thanks VP!

I wish they resent directions to Kickstarter backers. I had to dig it up from old e-mail (June 2014). Go to https://www.larianvault.com, log in, click on D:OS Kickstarter, and claim reward.

Steam is having a whopper of a sale right now

Quoting: anth
Quoting: Stupendous Mana few days ago I bought Shadow of Mordor and Cities Skylines from GMG
GMG have a few versions of SoM (plus GOTY etc), with keys from either Warners and or Feral. The latter did the Linux port so only buying that one will get any money to them, the platform you used to buy or activate the key doesn't matter. GMG list the developer and publisher, and also the source which I assume is who they got the keys from (often the publisher but maybe another distributor in some cases).

It looks like GMG are being misleading here and may have tricked you. One of those is from Feral and says it runs on Mac but they also did the port to Linux. Another is from Warners and says it runs on Mac or Linux but they only published the Windows version. The only one on sale at the moment is also from Warners.

It wouldn't be the first time that GMG have done something a bit dodgy.
Well, that's a bummer, seem like Feral will be missing out on the money from SoM then. I guess I'll have to rethink buying from GMG again in the future.

Thanks for the clarification!

Works flawlessly here, so far!

And for those it may matter to: You can create the two protagonists from scratch, including gender. They don't need to be a male and a female, like all screenshots I've seen earlier has indicated .

Quoting: DrMcCoyGreat, and now I'm at my parents' with my lappy that won't run it. They say "OpenGL 4.x compliant video card", and my lappy's card (965GM) won't even do OpenGL 3.x without telling Mesa to lie.

Oh, well, seems like I'll have to wait until next week to see how it does. I'm still skeptical. :P

Well after so long who would of thought they would of released it this year? I would of a put a grand on it being 2016 without a second thought.

I think it's a bug within Steam, but I'm on the Steam Beta client at the moment because of the firmware updates for the Steam Controller.
I was waiting for it to actually download, it did the same thing bit Dungeon II does, which just downloads a steamid file and then doesn't actually download any data but then it sets itself as if it is installed, and of course does not run at all.
But after about 10 minutes the steam client crashed and then when I restarted the client the game started to download.

I've only waited an extra year a few months since the original release. I backed this on kickstarter when they stated they would have a Mac and Linux client once it was deemed "stable" and released. Although I do appreciate the extra content and to be honest I'd rather play it originally with the extra content. But it sure has taken awhile... I'm a patient person but this was pushing it.

Quoting: Stupendous ManOn the Steam sale so far I've only bought Grid Autosport
Steam lists multiple developers and publishers for this, depending on platform. Buying from Steam on Linux gets money to the right place, see further down about buying from Steam using a phone.

For Cities Skylines see the next comment ...

Quoting: Stupendous ManTrine 3 from the Humble Store as well as a heavily discounted DLC for Europa Universalis 4
The same developers and publishers put those out on all platforms so the money will go to the right place. Steam will tell them what platform you activated the keys on, and although it won't affect who gets paid it is good that they know their efforts for Linux have benefited them so it is good you've done that.

Quoting: Stupendous ManI bought them all from my android phone but activated the codes on Linux
The store you bought it from will see that you were using Android but that won't affect what platform the key is counted as. The exception is when buying directly from the Steam store, where the platform (and in the case of Grid Autosport who gets paid) will be set after 1 or 2 weeks, based on where it was played the most, or if not played where it was installed (or activated?) first, or if not installed/activated then it'll default to Windows.

Quoting: supermonkey77I have to say that the game initially ran like the poops for me (medium settings = avg 30fps) but after turning off AA, forcing my cpu governor to performance (sudo cpupower frequency-set -g performance) in terminal and then cracking up every other in game setting to high to compensate visually for the lack of AA, I averaged 50fps in the city....not too shabby for initial release on Eon

Manjaro Gnome x64
4.2.5 kernel with low latency extensions
AMD Phenom II x4 965 @ 3.4Ghz
Gigabyte G1 nVidia 960 2GB with 352.63 prop driver
8GB DDR3 @ 1866 Mhz

did you notice the games actual vsync drops about 15 - 20fps ? In this instance its better to just turn it off and use the compositor ( providing your using a decent one )
