Steam Machine verification will have "fewer constraints" than Steam Deck - but text sizing worries me
15 Jan 2026 at 4:27 pm UTC Likes: 3

Text scaling support is why Baldur's Gate 3 was the only game I played when visiting my sister for Thanksgiving. Even though the TV where my family was staying was 55 inches and I wasn't sitting far from it, I had to sit to the side of the TV causing bad contrast and it also had low pixel density. So I had a hard time reading text in games so I just when though what games I had installed and Baldur's Gate was like the only one with text scaling so that's what I played.

I don't always need accessibility stuff but when I do I'm usually disappointed at what a game supports. Stellar Blade did surprise me with a pretty alright list of stuff you can change. My hand was locking up from fishing you have to spam Square while using the analog stick to fight the fish and then hold the trigger in a certain position to real in the fish. Had to fish a lot for missions and the fact I had to do it quickly caused me pain. Luckily in the Menu you can turn on a setting to have each action turned into a single press so all you have to do use is the analog stick. There is also an option to just change the reeling in part to a timing game instead of holding a specific position.

Also FOV should always be able to go high its accessibility as well. I can't play a lot of games because I get extreme motion sickness from an FOV being to small I usually need a FOV of 110 sometime 90 is fine like in source games. Starting playing the Snowbound mod for borderlands 2 and needed to increase the FOV to 130 not to get motion sick do to that mods increased speed. I don't know if devs use this excuse anymore but it use to be devs would say if we let you increase the FOV to much cut scenes might look wrong. One that's a you problem and two I DON'T CARE IF A CUT SCENE LOOKS A LITTLE WEIRD I WANT TO BE ABLE TO PLAY THE GAME.

Cygames announced an AI studio, and then put up an apology over it

I've notice a difference in how Japanese people view AI usable its much more relaxed and not really seen as anything bad. I have a Japanese 3d artist that has started to used AI (he has trained a model himself and released it publicly) and he released a music video with heavy AI use and the Japanese comments doesn't really bring up AI usage at all but every English comment is PLEASE DON'T USE AI and others saying they lost respect for him. So it maybe that Cygames genuinely never expected the back lash.
Now my sample size is small just being with in one guys community so I might be wrong but this is what I've observed.

The Legion Go with Bazzite is an excellent machine for gaming
6 Jan 2026 at 5:53 pm UTC

The only real issue I've had with Bazzite is on Sunday my living room PC would only boot in to desktop mode. Updating it fixed it but how did that happen?

This review made me realize if the docking improves this maybe more convenient for travel because when I travel I bring my Steam Deck, Its dock and a PS5 controller to play on the TV where ever I'm staying, but the detachable controllers would mean I wouldn't need to bring my PS5 controller. Not that I can afford a new handheld plus dock. How well do the detachable controllers work?

Bazzite Linux gets a spring cleaning update to end 2025

I've been using Bazzite on my Steam Deck because Decky Loader doesn't break after an update happens and desktop mode has been less of a pain to use for me. I've also wanted a more powerful handheld but nothing is that big of a improvement to warrant a purchase of anything and having the official dock would mean getting a new dock so double not worth it to me.

Steam Replay is live and notes only 14% "of playtime spent by all Steam users" was for 2025 releases
18 Dec 2025 at 3:17 am UTC

I've got 90% play time on Linux, 7% on Steamdeck, and 4% on windows from testing my friends graphics cards for defects and some ACE anti-cheat games my friends wanted to tryout. Wish Steam would tell me how may hours I played for each game so I could compare to my PlayStation numbers. For PC I have Smite 2 a 34%, Monster Hunter Wilds at 19% (158 hours on steam, 128hr in save file), 6% Deadlock, 4% Borderlands, 3% Marvel Rivals. My Steamdeck numbers are skewed since I only really used it 2 weeks this years for real the rest is just me seeing how things worked on it not playing so I'll just put the only 2 games i played for real on it Baldur's Gate 3 about 80% and Terminull about 20%. And for PlayStation I had Stellar blade at 66% with 142 hours, Clair Obscur at 33% with 72 hours, Final Fantasy VII Remake 1% 2.5 hours I didn't include the games I effectively used as Screen savers.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is now Steam Deck Verified with a big update

Quoting: Liam Dawe
Quoting: doragasuAnother verified game that shouldn't...
Have you tested it with this update?
I loaded my friends copy from family share visuals are muddy by default but now seem to have lumen lighting enable unlike before so the game looks how it should. You can change the upscale used to choose your preferred look. Still stuck at 30 fps that's weird since it says not locked at 30 anymore in patch notes. Maybe because I have Bazzite on my deck? Maybe later enemies drop fps more my PC save is only after you meet up with lune.

Talking point - what have you been playing lately?
11 Dec 2025 at 9:06 pm UTC

I finished Clair Obscur last week I really enjoyed the entire game. I did accidentally over level for ACT 3 and defeated the final boss before they had a turn. I tried going though the end game content but it takes so much focus and I had been playing the game for a week straight I'm just tired and worn out so I've stopped for now.

While visiting my sister for thanksgiving I was playing Baldur's Gate 3 on my SteamDeck since the game had font scaling so I could play it on the TV. I really just want to be with Shadowheart I have no clue why I just want her. Playing as a Mage Elf and just talk my way though most things but sometimes I talk and I get roped in to something else.

Back to now 3 days ago I was talking with my friend and we started talking about tony hawk pro skater do to a video he saw I talked about how I wanted to replay American wasteland but don't since you could only play as a male in the story mode and while looking around we found reTHAWed and I have been playing it since. No female in story still but the modding is fun textures are just PNGs and 2 added classic mode campaigns that I'm going though. They also have a linux updater. I hope they can get a female protag in at some point, supposedly they have a VA for the role but they need to redo every cut scene do to model differences.

Pop!_OS 24.04 LTS with the COSMIC Desktop Environment is out now
11 Dec 2025 at 8:14 pm UTC Likes: 3

Had to set up a computer with Pop!_OS for a science center is October. They needed AR sandbox and system76 had instructions and everything setup for it but even tho the doc says Pop!_OS 22.04 or newer the software isn't in the 24.04 repo. I just when and installed 22.04 since the computer will be setup and never touched again.

Just wish I didn't have to research everything since they where the ones that wanted a to have a topography exhibit all they knew is they needed a computer and kinect. I Should say the only reason I was involved is because my aunt runs the place, so my dad was asked to get the computer since she knows nothing about computers. They original just asked for a computer with linux so we installed linux mint since they didn't specify and that's what my dad default to for people asking for linux. Then they said they couldn't figure out how to install the kinect drivers so they asked for windows. So I installed windows 11 with the kinect drivers (Fun fact the kinect driver doesn't with memory protection enabled). Then they wanted me to show everything working for them. I show up and nothing new has happened they did nothing and surprise the software needed doesn't exist on windows just one project a dad made for their kid that i couldn't get working. So I just took the computer back home and installed Pop!_OS now i just have to wait for them to finish the exhibit,

Uh sorry for the rant the whole thing just annoys me I'm just realizing this is similar to when my mom is asked for constantly changing goal from non programmers at her job.

Monster Hunter Wilds is set for some big performance upgrades

Quoting: Cyril@Stella Is the reason, by any chance, is that they won't accept players modding their game? 2 DRM is indeed awful, first time I hear about Capcom Protector it seems.
You can still mod the game but adding DLC content will get you banned. I've modded the game in the past to buy any item so I could complete event armor sets, So I can have longer hair for my character and try the decompressed textures to improve frame times. Tho I don't get why decompressed textures are so unstable under linux one launch it no issue the next launch suddenly it thinks the texture is corrupt. That doesn't happen on Windows.

From my understanding they did make it harder to mod their games after a naked Chung Li mod was show live at a tournament.

HELLDIVERS 2 file-size on Steam gets massively reduced
5 Dec 2025 at 12:07 am UTC Likes: 1

I knew this was a thing of duplicating files for HDD as I remember that was one selling point not needing it or at least a talking point of the PS5 and Xbox Series Consoles but damn that's the biggest I've seen I just assumed in my head that it was all the different texture qualities since the PS5 version is 40gb at least that's what it says you need I don't own it on PS5 and also PC versions of games can be bigger since the consoles have custom decompression hardware. But damn that's a lot of duplication only cross gen games I own on my PS5 Pro for perspective Control PS5 version is 27gb PS4 is 39gb, Haven PS5 4gb PS4 6gb, Soul Hacker 2 PS5 16gb PS4 24gb, but 154gb to 23gb!!?!?!??!? and how is it smaller then the PS5 version unless the PlayStation store is wrong.

I wonder how many of these other games with massive file sizes have duplicate data
I know Final Fantasy XIII can be shrunk in about half there is English and Japanese Video Cut scenes so deleting the language you don't use saves about 30gb of space. The game was designed with the PS3 50gb bluray discs in mind is why the Xbox 360 version is 3 discs. I don't know any others with duplicate data you can remove. Also just checked my PS3 disc only english huh didn't notice that before so PC is 57gb with both and PS3 is 40gb with only english damn they compressed the videos.
