New games on the way for Steam Linux!
5 Jan 2013 at 5:26 pm UTC

Spiral Knights: Java yes, but they've actively support an actual Linux installer since beta which is pretty good for a published game.

I hope Party of Sin isn't just a mistake, that games looks pretty good.

On the controversies of Humble, Canonical and Team Meat

Quoting: "Cheeseness, post: 7289, member: 122"I'm not certain that it's been highlighted enough that the anti-Linux quotes from Tommy are from some time ago and may not represent his current attitudes.

Considering Team Meat still refuses to do Linux ports except as part of a HiB and doesn't support those ports afterwards... I doubt his attitude has changed much.

Erm, that quote is from ReMixx. Who is a moderator, not a dev.

Heh, you went from optirun to AMD? I'm not sure that's an improvement...

Also, I thought valve said the latest beta drivers from AMD themselves (not the ones in the repo) were supposed to work? Do they not?

On topic: That's amazing if true. Pity I'm at work :(

Killing Floor and Red Orchestra on Steam for non-BETA users
11 Nov 2012 at 12:30 am UTC

Quoting: "motorsep, post: 6292, member: 154"Can someone who owns Steel Storm on Steam verify that they also have it on Linux (cos Valve told me it suppose to be on it, regardless if person is in beta program or not, however I haven't seen any Linux resource, including this one, ever mentioning it) ?

Works fine.

On killing floor: Maybe I just don't understand how this game works, but are your perk/skill things supposed to reset after every game?

Woot! Looks like SS3:BFE got an update and now actually has the binaries and runs! Runs decent on my system, there were a few skips when I started the game but it smoothed out and ran fine even on ultra settings

Steam Closed Beta Now Live!

Quoting: "aaannz, post: 6179"I encountered problem with missing tray icon so currently steam is "working" in background but no idea how to show its window. :D

Same here, my workaround was to have a group invite, the group invite pops up every time steam is launched so I click that and it opens the main steam window :p

Basically: Get a group or friend request!
