With friends, we "finished" Vaheim as well ; now onto tring some stuff / expanding base. It seems that my computer is giving it last resources now each time I walk in, though.

Quoting: FeistThis week I finished "Technomancer" and just today I finished "Cloudpunk". Technomancer was pretty good, I enjoyed it more than Greedfall and I wouldn't mind a sequel since the ending left quite a few unanswered questions.
I loved Greedfall, and I have been thinking several times about getting Technomancer... Makes me want again to consider buying it

Microsoft reportedly have Discord in their sights to acquire
24 Mar 2021 at 5:19 am UTC

So sad news... I moved to Discord after Skype became such a mess under Microsoft's direction. Now I should probably start looking elsewhere as well, but my friends will probably want to stay with Discord because "it works" (they use the full-fledged Windows version)

That nice selection of games brings back good memories

Wasteland 3 gets a permadeath mode and skill respec in the 1.3.3 update
12 Mar 2021 at 9:24 am UTC

Quoting: TheSHEEEPNot a fan of respec - at least if it is given for free or very cheap.

The big fun in these games comes from the thinking you put into your builds, the preparations you do for them, and then seeing it all work out in action.
It forces commitment and is rewarding if done right.

When respec is free or cheap, that removes the need to put in any thinking and to plan ahead. There is no commitment and no reward of figuring it out. You can just brainfart your way around until something works.

It all depends on how it fits the gameplay. For example, in the first Guild Wars game, respec'ing was free, and part of the gameplay to prepare for travelling through some areas.
I, for one, like to experiment and try fun stuff, and respec'ing allows me to try without getting punished too hard in the long term. Yet, I tend to only do it as a last resort, because I find it nice to take into account my "mistakes"

Quoting: TheSHEEEPThat was also the big mood killer for me in Diablo 3. I didn't feel commited to any character for a single second as I knew I could just switch everything around at-will.
Of all the mood killers for me in Diablo III, this one was verly low on the list

Get your perfect Valheim world with the map generator
11 Mar 2021 at 5:42 am UTC

Quoting: einherjarHmm, at least I do not have a use for it.
Exploring the world is an important part of the game. If you know the world already, it takes away too much from the game for me.

But nice to know about it anyways.
Same here. But, I guess it could add to replayability, once you beat the game, to start over on a "predefined map" (easy access to resources for more building fun, or lots of small island for more challenge, for example).

Or, for speedrunners

Kick down doors and send reptile people flying in Anger Foot

Looks like it could be part of Postal games

Quoting: scaineThis looks great. But that music. Holy shit the music. Make it stop.
I agree on that, the music area could get some improvements. But I like the added detail of having loudspeakers lying everywhere in the house

Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 goes out today, new Linux driver released

Quoting: furaxhornyxOut of curiosity, I clicked on the link about dedicated cards [External Link] for mining.

Big title on the page:
NVIDIA CMP HX
Dedicated GPU for Professional Mining
Is "professional mining" a real thing ?
Current Ethereum Hashrate: 435 TH/s [External Link]
Income from that Hashrate: 566M$/month [External Link]

That's without energy cost, which eats around 25% if you are paying "normal" prices. And much (~5%) less if you have an industry contract.

So not only is professional mining a thing, you can do it too if you have a GPU with more then 4GB of VRAM. I bought some used 5700 XT back in December for ~ 500$, they are payed off now.
Thanks for your explanation, yet, one more question:

The money spent on your GPU is paid off in Ethereum, right ? But this is "virtual value", are there any store or things you can actually buy with this ?

Valve help developers into adding more controller support with new stats
25 Feb 2021 at 5:37 am UTC Likes: 1

Quoting: einherjarI tried Valheim with controller, but I was not satisfied and went back to MK.
For me, controller is a nice experience, except when you need to aim precisely with the bow. But I use the keyboard for fast accessing to menus, and I do use the mouse for sorting inventory (faster and less clunky than with a controller).

Quoting: slaapliedjeI find myself wanting more controller enabled games, mostly because I sit for 10-14 hours a day typing away and wiggling a mouse doing work... I want to be able to lay way back in comfort with a controller in hand to play some games. (or in the case of VR, standing with controllers and punching the living shit out of enemies with the Index controllers).
Same here, to the point that sometimes, I find playing with a controller more comfortable for the wrist, especially when you already spent hours with a mouse for work. I just got myself a vertical mouse to try to diminish the strain.

Quoting: AppelsinToo bad Valve never really wanted to sell them to anyone. Just like the Steam Link. If they'd actually been easily available for purchase then they would have sold a ton. In Norway, you couldn't really get one outside of Ebay.
I own a Steam Link, and to be fair, I tried it a few minutes, then it went back into its box. On a LAN, the input lag on Overcooked was very perceptible, making the game barely playable...
