Dead Island Definitive Edition is loads of fun. I know Dying Light is better, but don't overlook Dead Island either, it's a blast (the ending sucks but most FPS games are plagued with terrible endings)

Quoting: GuestHello,
i am using an ATI graphics card and MESA 17.02 under Ubuntu 16.04. Unfortunately, I get the error "SIGSEGV(11)" every time I launch the game after the launcher. I can only see the loading screen for a few seconds. Does anybody have the same problem?

Which mesa version do you use for playing the game successfully?

Thanks
What card exactly? Can you try running it from the command line to see what other errors it spits out?
Also try the Oibaf PPA to see if a slightly more recent Mesa version will help.

Quoting: veccheras someone that is trying to work in games, i think i should participate of more game jams, never did it before, looks cool, but i wouldn't be able to produce enough assets in time, and if we aren't allowed to use even the starter content from the engines it would be really hard if i take in count my skills with making models and materials, plus it would take me something near an entire day to upload my project.
I think you can totally make a valid game by re-using content. As long as it's a good one!

I played it and didn't reach the end either....it's an excellent game though. Great attitude from the developer.

Mesa 17.0.0 has officially released and it's well worth updating

Yes the closed source drivers have nothing to do with MESA

Thanks for the great article! Maybe add the GL_THREADED_OPTIMIZATION nvidia stuff to the main article too.

Jonathan Blow states he is open to a Linux port of The Witness with Vulkan, but never with OpenGL

That's great news, I was sadly looking at that game recently, mourning the fact it never came to Linux.
