Oh boy, if that's your aubergine, you need to get it checked out by a doctor.

Sid Meier's Civilization VII is out now with Linux support and Steam Deck Verified

Seems pretty good so far -- I'm ~45 turns in, and and I'm having fun. Still getting used to the mechanics, and the pre-city state AIs seem to be a bit broken (they keep swarming my capital with various military units, but haven't yet attacked despite me pot shooting them with proto-archers every time they get close). I'm a bit bewildered by all the natural disasters -- seems every turn another volcano erupts or a river floods, but so far it's not really affected me. Just built my second 'town' next to an erupting volcano, so I guess I'll find out what consequences that has, haha.

Civilization VII gets a mixed reception on Steam, Firaxis say they're listening and put up a small roadmap

People paying more for to be beta testers for video games is bizarre to me.

Here's hoping the game improves quickly.

Intel and NVIDIA drivers holding back a public SteamOS release, Valve not trying to compete with Windows

Quoting: basedM$ are pissing people off and shooting themselves in the foot enough already.
They've been doing that since (at least) Windows 8. No matter how many holes they make in their feet, idiots are going to keep on using Windows. It's not going to cause a mass migration to Linux.

Quoting: suchI feel it's pretty safe to compare Ross to The Terminator at this point.
I'm not sure the films would have the same atmosphere if, every time the T-800 came into shot, it had the same "deer caught in the headlights" look that Ross starts all his live videos with.

Dwarf Fortress - Adventure Mode launches January 23, plus Beta 28 is out now
9 Jan 2025 at 6:19 pm UTC

Where's the 2017 release date coming from? DF has existed (in some form or another) since 2002. If it's just the Steam release, then that was in 2022.

In any case, I was never that into adventure mode, but it's good to see it's made its way into the Steam version. I'll be sticking with 0.47.05 for now though, hopefully they unnerf the controls (or add in a classic control toggle) in the Steam version at some point.

Isn't CS2 FTP? I guess they made a lot of money with their in-app purchases. Lots of fannies paying for weapon skins out there. O_o

Firaxis reveal Sid Meier's Civilization VII system requirements for Linux

I'll probably pick it up on day one, but just the standard edition. I can't justify £90 or £120 for a game. TBH £60 is excessive, but gotta reward developers that actually support Linux.

Terrible lineup of candidates. AFAIK only Stardew and Tiny Glade are Linux native.

I've added the latter to my wishlist.

Arch Linux Package Management (ALPM) gets funding from Sovereign Tech Agency

Hopefully the user-facing packaging system remains as simple as it is currently. The PKGBUILD+makepkg way of creating packages is one of the main strengths of Arch.
