Firaxis reveal Sid Meier's Civilization VII system requirements for Linux

I'll probably pick it up on day one, but just the standard edition. I can't justify £90 or £120 for a game. TBH £60 is excessive, but gotta reward developers that actually support Linux.

Terrible lineup of candidates. AFAIK only Stardew and Tiny Glade are Linux native.

I've added the latter to my wishlist.

Arch Linux Package Management (ALPM) gets funding from Sovereign Tech Agency

Hopefully the user-facing packaging system remains as simple as it is currently. The PKGBUILD+makepkg way of creating packages is one of the main strengths of Arch.

I just built my first space platform, it's taking some getting used to, but it's good fun so far.

Factorio 2.0 and Factorio: Space Age DLC are out now
21 Oct 2024 at 4:41 pm UTC

I've been replaying in preparation for this DLC. After getting the "Lazy bastard" (craft <111 items manually) achievement in my last run through, I've been going for the "Steam all the way" (no solar panels) achievement this time, and incurring the wrath of the biters because of it (just started switching out the dirty boilers in favour of nuclear, so hopefully my smog cloud will start thinning out).

Really looking forward to getting into space now.

More info on the Valve (Steam) collab with Arch Linux and potential future hardware support

Quoting: Jarmerso basically they want to make it easier for the developers of App XYZ (or Game ABC) to just push a button for deployment and BAM their app/game is available on x86 or Arm? Is that correct?
No, this is purely about the OS layer. At the moment Arch only supports x86_64, and lacks the resources/motivation to support any other architectures because providing packages for these is a timesink/chore right now. Arch has had vague plans to improve the packaging infrastructure (to make supporting other architectures easier) for a while, but hasn't gotten around to doing so. Valve have basically come along and asked how they can help.

Hell, we never got to see v1.0 [External Link]. :P

GTA V / GTAOnline highlights Steam Deck's verification system has problems

The verification system has had these problems from the start. It's nice to see that some people are finally admitting that they exist after burying their heads in the sand for so long.

As always, if you want to support gaming on Linux, support games that support Linux. Don't give your hard earned money to companies that don't give a rats arse about you, then act surprised when they pull the rug out from under you.

Microsoft Windows kernel changes don't suddenly mean big things for Linux gaming

Support games that support Linux.

That is all.

Steam Families has officially launched with a big Steam Client Update
12 Sep 2024 at 11:01 pm UTC

Last time I tried it, the previous family sharing sucked. You had to frequently 'sign in' to the recipient PC to keep the sharing active, which was a chore. Perhaps this new version will eliminate that need (or maybe it was fixed in a newer version, I stopped using it ages ago).
