Sadly this isn’t going to help. Prices have shot up on steam account selling sites and number of accounts available dropping quick as soon as this was announced so I assuming scalpers are already prepared and we will see extremely long months waits despite this. Not sure what else can be done though.

It’s nice, but would much rather have better availability on the Steam Controller than stuff like this. Doesn’t matter if accessory makers can now make stuff if you can’t get enough product out

Just after release in the few hours after there was up to 500 listings, most selling at there buy it now price within 15-30min or so.

I'm lucky that I don't get FOMO over this stuff. Yes, I want a controller. No, I'm not buying through anyone but Valve. The scalping industry is so predatory.

Sadly, this would not have helped. There are tons of old steam accounts listed for sale that botters and scalpers can buy and do use for stuff like this already.

Pretty sure it would have helped, and along with a cap limit of two units per account and the scalpers jobs just became much harder and profit margins much lower.

Sadly, there aren't any mitigation's that folks won't find a way around. There was already a cap of two steam controllers per account that people were already getting around by buying non-limited steam accounts. Also, the level stuff does nothing, there are already sites that let you pay to level up steam account levels faster. Having had to deal with this for a company in the retail space with GPU's a few years ago, it is very hard to combat this in any meaningful way unfortunately. The scalpers will find a way, short of having some kind of lottery system which just pisses off paying customers.

Yeah, in North America here, tried from two minutes before release to an hour afterwards. No luck, just kept getting error messages. Going by various discords and what not, looks like scalpers were having a field day and grabbing up a large and relisting almost immediately on ebay. One of them even purchased 30 over 15 accounts from a screenshot I seen posted.

Really? How many games are people running that are closed source? I'm not gonna say "all of them", but unless we're talking about niche gamers, I'd say the vast majority of them are.
I'd rather have things opensource, but it's not like I'm putting all my personal documents in there. It's an emulator.

It is more that all the other big active and currently matained SNES emulators and cores these days are open source, so releasing a closed one is a bit silly at this point in time, work with the community and not against it, unless your planning on monetizing it at some point.

Edit: Just realised the Android (and likely iOS version when it is out) are pay so this is likely the reason for the closed source so others can't just take there code and release apps on those stores. Don't have a problem with that, but just come out and say it. Tried it, don't really like it that much, will keep using bsnes.

Think this is pretty much DOA, given closed sourced and based on Unity. Not that big of a deal these days though, just disappointing to be honest given the original ZSNES.

Same, on a 9800X3D currently and not coming close to maxing it out currently. Sure this is a nice processor but I think will be overkill for most folks.
