It's like magazine coverdisks with 1-2 demos per floppy, except now we have twenty. ;-)
Two of these are on my wishlist, and I also got mail from Valve informing that a game from my wishlist published a demo, which is nice. I might take a closer look at the others, too.
Please remind me, will these demos disappear right after NextFest or will they stay available? Or at least stay in my library if I install them now?

Quoting: SakuretsuNot interested but it's funny to see how it only took a little bit bankruptcy for the suits at Ubisoft to decide to go back to Steam. Now they just need to understand that denuvo and superfluous client annoy people and lower the sales, and they're back on track.

Quoting: Mar2ckLooks like they submitted it with AI-generated library assets. [External Link] Not sure what Valve's current stance on AI is but that probably didn't help. The current stance is that the dev/pub needs to clearly state the use and scope of use of AI and then it's alright.

Quoting: basedthe access to their stores being SOLD on SteamMy point exactly. If it wasn't taken down by Valve, it would have been taken down by someone else. It's was the only right move to nip it in the bud.

Unsurprising, given the same happened to itch.io steam (greenlight) page.
What is surprising is that they wanted to charge for that...

Quoting: ArdjeIf Steam dies, your access dies too to games that use steam DRM. Only those DRM free in the steam store that are downloaded already will continue to work.Look, if Steam ever dies, it will be a problem for 100+ million people. I am 100% sure someone makes a small program that emulates Steam DRM and you can use it to run any of the downloaded games that used to rely on Steam client calls. Given the scale, it might even be government-sanctioned, lol.

Quoting: GuestAs far as i know, you still need the steam client to restore those backupsYou don't need Steam client to restore if you just copy or tar a game's directory.

No matter how people want to cook it, it's still the same: all software you buy, download, use - you do it based on a licence, and that includes open source programs. GOG may rightfully boast offline installers, but on Steam you can also make a backup of the files and many (if not most) games can be played without Steam running.
