Valve puts up a Steam Deck trailer and the head of Xbox seems to really like it

It doesn't mention SteamOS, Proton or anything Linux related but simply mentions it runs a "new version of Steam" and ends by telling people to reserve now.
That is probably the right amount of information for the general public. They don't care how games run, they only care if they do.
This is exactly the right way to put it. And as often with new versions of software, some backwards-incompatibilities are to be expected, so it should be easier to tell people to wait indefinitely while it's being worked on. It will be interesting to see if games start getting negative reviews for not running on steam deck, like they now do if they don't work on windows 10.

Wasn't unity in the red and looking to be acquired not long ago?

I look forward to all the improvements KDE Plasma will get with the Steam Deck

I switched away from KDE when they moved from a near-perfect KDE3 to a total-mess KDE4. Stayed with Gnome2 for a while but since it was destined to die, I moved to XFCE and am still using it. However nothing beats Konsole. I spend maybe half of my time in the terminal so it's a must.

Seems the Valve Steam Deck has been impressing people with some hands-on time

Quoting: g000hI was actually thinking - If Steam Deck becomes a mega-success, and Valve remains reasonable with respect to privacy and respecting their customers, then maybe they could diversify in the future and produce a SteamOS mobile phone. There are so few choices for phones nowadays that aren't glorified spying devices for their Big Tech masters. I would *jump* on a non-invasive, open-technology smartphone *so fast*.
Maybe something like this? https://www.pine64.org/pinephone/ [External Link]
I don't think Valve should go in that direction, it would distract them from better-suited niches.

Linux has finally hit that almost mythical 1% user share on Steam again

Quoting: dpanterI'm hoping (without any actual hope at all really) that Steam will show the Deck/SteamOS as a separate data set rather than lumping it in with the Linux data we are familiar with today. It would indicate if the Deck had a positive effect on desktop Linux adoption.
We should be able to discern it in the "Linux Version" section anyway. It will show SteamOS for Steam Deck.

Half-Life 2: Remastered Collection coming from the team behind Half-Life 2: Update

Quoting: CatKiller...but then I thought of using the Deck to play games on the toilet (multitasking!) as "clearing your backlog" and now I can't unthink it.
Imagine dropping it and having to go to the back of the queue for a new one.

Quoting: SeegrasThat helmet with these shoulders and the breast plate... It hurts.

Yes I know it's fantasy, but pseudo-16th century shoulders and a pseudo-15th century breastplate might work, but NEVER with a pseudo-13th century helmet. And the short-sleeved chain-mail is also as stupid as it gets.

The "sword" is also a lot of eye-damage.
He does kinda look like he picked up his gear at a garage sale, doesn't he?
Found lying around the dungeon and/or crafted from some scrap metal, probably.
