Game developer 'Atlus' issues a DMCA takedown against open source PS3 emulator

It's probably because they have a PC version in the works and they don't want emulation to hurt their sales. The same happens to old IP "abandonware" when the company decides to release a remaster.

Well they have some games they could port...

And these classics running on the box will probably be Atari Vault, no? But the machine will need to have some big titles, maybe even exclusives, to take off.

While I get the idea, I don't think it will be a success. $10 a month to access 60 indie games? Pretty much the same as netflix with loads of "AAA" series?

Also, for $10 a month you can get yourself a new humble bundle, which will quickly add up to 60 indie games (for keeps!) before the year runs its course. Or add two more dollars and get a highly-curated hb monthly bundle with both indie and AAA games, though admittedly not necessarily for Linux.

Children, especially in conjunction with the word young, are supposed not to stick to TV and gaming. Take them outside and play and explore the world with them then just going for the comfortable way to make them being silenced because they're occupied by gaming.
Kids want to have fun as well, you know? Kicking them out so that you can enjoy silence at home is not always the best option. Games are great when the weather is foul.

Quoting: etonbearsIt is notable that any "philosophical advantage" of open development does not yet seem to have produced a significant body of high-quality games.
If I may , wouldn't this have more to do with lack of other professions joining in also ?
Sure we have coders who can script a great game.
But without artists , musicians , composers , art directors , voice actors and so on , how far can we truly get towards a great game.
Just my two cents.
It's easy to contribute code under permissive licence, because it's usually only useful in that one place anyway. Artists can have a bigger dilemma, because once they create a sprite or a tune for an open-source game, they're likely to see it floating around the web, reused 100 times without as much as attribution.

♥ DICE, I loved your Pinballs on Amiga, I loved Benefactor, in fact I still play them sometimes on FS-UAE - I hope I can also play your newer games some day on SteamOS. ;-)

Two things of interest here:
1. it is redeemed via oauth, which was supposedly turned off a while ago - yet again it's proved that select publishers still have access to this feature
2. it says it was redeemed successfully, yet doesn't show up in my library, possibly it's not available on Linux (yet?)
