New & Improved GamingOnLinux Sales Page

It was much better when name of the game was linked directly to the storefront. After it was changed to pop up a window, I found it more and more annoying to the point when I stopped using it completely. Shame, because it was a pretty useful tool, sometimes listing deals that could not be found elsewhere.

[edit] As for the interface - it's great that the table can be sorted by any column, but it would be even greater if the user was aware of that. Currently there is no indication of any sort (bad pun) that a column can be sorted. Also what's lacking is the ability to sort by discount, like it is possible on SteamDB or Gamersgate.

Ownership Of Desura Changes, Again

Most, if not all of them come from various bundles. Many are also on Steam, but there are also numerous little gems that are not available anywhere else (yet). My problem is that even if I played some games and enjoyed them, I quickly forget about them without a working client (I have a Linux client downloaded from Desura page, but it crashes right after start). A it is now, I just start my gaming session with booting up Steam and choosing from the Steam games library, rather than browsing my ~/games directory populated with FLOSS games, desura / humble bundle / gog drm-free games and some dosbox-wrapped oldies. It's not that I'm blindly in love with Steam, it just happens to have a pretty comfortable client. That's why I'm looking forward to GOG's and Desura's Linux clients so I can have a similar experience regardless of what I feel like playing today.

"How does this make you feel about Desura?"

I have 233 Linux games on Desura and I only played a tiny fraction of them because of no working client. I downloaded some games and ran them from a directory, but then I just forget about them and they lie around. It will be awesome if they roll out a working client at last. With that, and the upcoming GOG Galaxy client, I will finally be able to extend my gaming habits beyond Steam.

Aspyr Media Plans More Linux Games In The Next 6 Months UPDATED

Let's see now. Who might have ordered 5 Linux ports in one go? May it be Call of Duty? If I count right, there are five Call of Duty Mac ports on steam, all made by Aspyr: CoD2, Black Ops, MW1, MW2 and MW3. Seems about right. ;-)

GOG Employee Explains Where Galaxy Is At Currently

My dream console: SteamOS + GOG Galaxy + UAE + some easy runner for older games in Dosbox and Wine (hopefully I'll be able to just hook them to the GOG client - I know I can already do it in Steam, but I experienced some problems with that, like executing a game in a loop after quitting). GOG just *needs* to make an easy client to run and update games, in its current state it's too far from being comfortable.

Steam Hardware Survey For September 2014, Linux Rises

Quoting: sevThe thing that will take Linux to the top of these charts is if Valve markets the Steam Machine as a console. It has to be more than just a free OS; it needs to be something that you buy for serious console gaming. They should not write drivers for the valve controller for any platform but Linux, they should release some exclusive titles. I'm not even saying that for Linux's sake, I'm just saying that for Valve's sake; their Steam Machine will die if they just add it to the market without any exclusive features.
I've been thinking. Gabe said HL3 will NOT be SteamOS-exclusive. But he never said that it will be released for all platforms on day one. I think releasing HL3 for SteamOS a month or two before Windows and Mac, could really kick-start the Steam Machines.
