New Steam Store, Lots Of New Stuff

I don't really like the change, old Steam + Enhanced Steam extension did the job better for me. Sure, there are nice things, like marking the games that you have on your wishlist, but at the same time they don't mark the games you own everywhere, only on some very specific lists. Enhanced Steam did it so much better. I'm not much concerned about the main page, even though it *is* crappy, because my starting page has long been http://store.steampowered.com/search/?sort_by=Released&sort_order=DESC&category1=998 [External Link] and they didn't break that with the update. ;-)

Gauntlet Linux Version Delayed For Steam Machines

Quoting: sigzNot so sure, Valve is implementing more and more modifications to Xorg and linux kernel to have a nice gaming platform. As they said at debconf, these patches will not be upstreamed, so there is chances steamOS ends as a "not so compatible" linux distribution, like android now.
Not entirely true - they said that some patches are very specific to their vision and thus may not be suitable for general use, but if the community decides to implement them upstream, they have no objections to that. Personally, after watching the presentation, I'm rather content that they're going for hand tailoring the distro for the gaming needs and more than ever convinced to buy a steambox as soon as it's released.

Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition For Linux Is In Testing

I bought BG:EE back in 2013 on the promise of Linux port "soon" and I'm still waiting. Didn't do the same mistake with BG2:EE, but I'll buy it as soon as the penguin icon pops up, same for IWD:EE and any other D&D remakes they're planning.

Lots of discounts don't make it easy to wait for the Linux version before buying. But I'm trying to contain myself this time. ;-)

Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth Has A Strategy Packed New Trailer

I think the delay has to do with Ubuntu 14.10 releasing in October and the new Civ will have to be thoroughly tested on this new release.

Blinken graphics are great for trailers and all, but when it comes to actual gameplay, I wonder if there will be option to switch to the strategic view like in Civilization V.

Blobwars: Metal Blob Solid is great, be sure to play it if you haven't already. The 3D sequel didn't appeal to me, though.

It's a big shame that wishlisted games are no longer indicated when browsing the list.

GOG Has More Linux Games Added To Their Collection

Quoting: GuestThe demo of Blocks that Matter completely breaks my system when I run it and I have to reboot, and the full version in Steam doesn’t start at all.

Kingdom Rush, on the other hand, is great!
Blocks that Matter (full version) used to work ok for me, then all of a sudden I got a total freeze that forced me to reboot my computer (a really rare case these days) After that I edited the config file to run the game in the window - so in the case it did it again, I would be able to just kill it with ctrl+alt+esc (KDE). But it worked fine afterwards.
