I bought it back in October on the promise of Linux version "coming soon", so they can be sure I won't be buying it again, I'd rather wait for a GOG version in that case.

Quoting: edgleyBeen waiting for this for some time; good news :)Same here. Already bought the game because, say what you will (about buying games early), I like that thrill when I see Linux game counter go +1 and I scroll through the list to find out which one is the newcomer! I just saved the DLC for later. ;-)

Personally I couldn't care less about pretty textures in Civ5, as I spend 100% of the game in strategic view, but these are fine articles and I'm looking forward to read more of the series. :-)
Just A Friendly Reminder: Don't Buy A Game Until It Is Officially On Linux

[edit] And of course, this won't work when you buy the game on a third-party site, such as Humble Store.

Quoting: IlyaI usually buy games in a sale as gifts and only activate them once the Linux port comes out (so that if they decide not to do one I can just give the game to someone else). Can you buy the game as a gift but later still install it yourself ("redeem" the gift from your inventory)? If so, I'll probably start doing it from now on. But I'm afraid that such purchases are still counted as Windows, because Steam can't hold the money until you activate the product, they have to give it to someone, so they default to the owner of the original (Windows) version.

This approach doesn't seem very fair - I often purchase games (and I mean Linux games) when they are on sale but sometimes don't play them until a few months later, so in this system it would mean that 90% of my purchases are counted as Windows just because I don't play the game right away. Given that one third of purchased games are never even installed, it might mean that easily over a half of Linux purchases are counted as Windows...
Mount & Blade: Warband Confirmed For Linux By A Developer, Beta Soon Too

I'm pretty sure Steam knows it if you make the purchase through the Linux client or through a browser on Linux. They will also know when you play the game on Linux. So the stats should be alright. The problem is when one developer makes the original game and another one makes the port, as was the case with Civ V and well explained by Aspyr in the forums.
OpenXcom 1.0 Released, Play The Original XCOM In An Open Source Engine

Q: Are Terror From The Deep and Apocalypse gonna be supported too?
A: Terror From The Deep support is planned once the game is moddable enough. Apocalypse is tricky though since it’s a completely different engine with very different gameplay, and most of its internals remain a mystery.

Quoting: IvancilloI wonder if this functions too with X-COM 2 Terror from the deep. From their site:

The real question is, how many of these games are going to deliver native Linux version right from the start and how many are just using Linux as a leverage to get more greenlight votes.

Quoting: Maquis196On a random note, the mac only version of Civ 4 is now appearing in my Linux list! Got quite a few games and only 7 of them are "Mac only" ports. Was just about to ask that. I tried to install it, but it resulted in 0 bytes. Personally I'd be more than happy if they ported Civ IV + Expansions (Colonization!) as well as Civ III. Each of them supposedly has slightly different gameplay and people tend to prefer one over another. I wouldn't mind trying them all out to decide for myself, but I failed to run either Civ IV: Colonization or Civ III under wine... So anyway I hope it's a good omen and not merely a glitch! :-)
Id personally be more stoked about a Linux version of Civ 4. Guess in the meantime I'll play Civ5 a bit, worth a go!
