ReplaySorcery is an open source instant-replay solution for Linux

Neat project. I like that it's simple and stays out of the way. It looks perfect for doing small video clips for a review and such.

No, not really. I don't want to turn yet another news story into a griping section and I've said said enough about this game to last me a lifetime already.

Might also be that part of it was just the whiplash of unmet expectations. I'm sure if you're into the whole MMORPG thing, it might even be a servicable game, but, well, it's not for me and it's not what I expected.
I think I was ruined by having played Galaxies extensively. That game needed some TLC in bugfixing and additional content, but before they did the huge overhaul that removed the skills system and all the crafting complexity, it was one of the most sandboxy, interesting and fun MMOs I played. More like EVE in many respects, and certainly very different to others out there. SWTOR just didn't match up. I played WoW for a while as well, up till WotLK and even with all the content that had it still didn't match Galaxies for me.
The game wasn't ruined by SWG. The game was ruined, for some people, who expected SWG from a KOTOR style RPG.

Linux distro Fedora 33 may get DXVK as the default for Wine

Man when Linux users get set against a project, it's an all out war.

Personally, I love that Fedora packages wine-staging instead of old crusty stable. I'm wine-dxvk is being considered. The way they package many of these makes is so much easier to use for me. I don't get the hate because it's fairly easy to install alternative versions and use whatever works for you. For me, this is just another reason Fedora is easy for me to game on.

My characters are a mid 50s Gunslinger and a mid 30s Jedi Sage. It's great casual or coop fun. Mostly I don't enjoy the pvp, raiding or 'serious' group content. It pretty much ruins the experience for me. The rest of it is great fun solo or in small groups.

SWTOR is a themepark so the experience is very linear and guided, but it does well at making the planets feel more open. Bioware has merged servers since I last played (a couple years ago) so I found my characters from Begeren Colony on Satele Shan. I have to rename them both so maybe I'll just start a new one.

Sorting the mess of vendor specific lighting apps, OpenRGB has a new release

The project is very cool and an admirable goal. The software trash with peripheral vendors is getting out of hand. I'm keeping an eye on this project. For now I'll keep using my current solutions, but this is good news.

Open source voxel game engine Minetest has a new release

Content -> Browse online content -> Games -> MineClone 2 -> Install

It's not a full-blown Minecraft replica but it has a lot of its features and it keeps getting updates and polish. :)
The community modding system is the powerhouse behind this game. The experience doesn't limit players to "just Minecraft". I think that is pretty rad.

Quoting: KimyrielleWhy is that NOT surprising, coming from the same company who needed about a year after the Windows release to deliver the promised Bards Tale IV port. "Difficult decision"...lol...it's just how these people operate.
Please stop making things up to bandwagon on the hate train. The Linux port for BT4 was available right around release. It was very buggy though and it wasn't fully playable for a few weeks afterwards. I know this because I played both the Windows and Linux versions before release and after release.
Actually, Kimyrielle is correct on that. When released, The Bards Tale IV was in a poor state and wasn't reviewed too well. Linux was entirely missing too. Linux only came with the Director's Cut, released like a year later. So we did have to wait quite a while on it.
Okay, my bad. Sorry.

A year later they patched a lot of the game, based on player feedback, and offered "The Director's Cut" for free to those who had already purchased the original game. That is exactly what a good game studio does when it misses its mark and player expectations. That is what Hello Games did when they stumbled with No Man's Sky. What's the point in slagging on people who make a mistake and then fix it? No one is perfect.

This project amazes me somewhat. The original Java implementation of Minecraft had some limitations due to the language choice. So, some people reimplemented Minecraft in C++. I like how this game focused heavily on the community and modding to generate specific content while they develop the engine. To me, it's a great example of a truly collaborative FOSS experience.
