Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues RPG Needs Greenlight Help
22 Sep 2014 at 12:18 am UTC

They come from the same studio (Origin) as the people from CIG doing Star Citizen at http://robertsspaceindustries.com/ [External Link]
Richard Garriott and Chris Roberts!! =)
Btw, Star Citizen has over $50mil in crowd-funding if you didn't know. They also had cross promotions (backers of Shroud of the Avatar from Star Citizen got a cool crossbow in Star Citizen and you got something in Shroud of the Avatar that was Star Citizen fiction-based).

One thing I must agree I really like about them is they're doing all 3 platforms concurrently! Something CIG hasn't been doing or rather, can't really do until Crytek give them a Linux building Engine version! =/

Valve Are Tracking SteamOS Issues With AMD Graphics
17 Sep 2014 at 7:19 am UTC

That's good =)
Wonder if they'll use a proper bug tracker sometime though ...

Well you could put SteamOS on your main as a dual-login/desktop environment.
And with the old parts left over from upgrading your main you could build another low end SteamMachine/HTPC?

Learning the art of waiting patiently for the good things (Star Citizen and SteamOS) =P

Mojang Confirms Microsoft Is Buying The Minecraft Maker
15 Sep 2014 at 1:56 pm UTC

I actually played Minetest [External Link] for a bit. It's another open source clone (never bought minecraft), with really cool mods!

If I was one of the creators, of course I'd bail after selling and becoming filthy rich =D
Then probably start a company like SpaceX =P
I don't see the Minecraft game being sustainable (both enjoyment-wise and population-wise) in the long term anyway (think 10 years). Looks like M$ made a stupid move lol, buying Minecraft IP for 2.5bil o.O

Imagine if Star Citizen [External Link] got that amount of money! (I reckon Star Citizen is a game that *could* be sustainable for over 10 years. The devs are legit community and fan-focused, listening to feedback and creating a game with the biggest scope of all time, becoming the Best Damn Space Sim Ever! (And will probably supersede Tribes 1 as my favourite game of all time.

Lutris Open Gaming Platform New Release
14 Sep 2014 at 5:12 am UTC

I've always wanted something like this!! The added convenience is soooo good!
I don't play a lot of my games on Desura because I don't usually open it and have Steam open if I want to game! =/

(It's like the convenience of not dual-booting to Windows to play my Windows games - I now only dual-boot for Star Citizen which will hopefully have a Linux build soon =P)

Microsoft Reportedly Buying Minecraft Maker Mojang

Dang, the source got updated!
Business-wise, it might be an enticing move to take the money and , but I guess Persson isn't so onboard with continuing at Mojang if it's acquired by MS so he'll probably run/do other ventures.
I try not to hate MS that much but they have yet to prove themselves and gain my trust/support. It's what you tend to view evil companies like Apple. Good thing one of Google's unofficial values/rules is "Don't be evil" so they won't become SKYNET that quickly =P

Humble Indie Bundle 12 Launches With Lots Of Great Games
10 Sep 2014 at 12:21 pm UTC

Already had Gunpoint on Linux (so no, it's not a debut), but this one's pretty much a great buy for me, since I have no other games in it, and ALL of them are on Linux!
Bye bye wallet tears!

The Witcher 2 For Linux On GOG Has Been Patched
9 Sep 2014 at 12:22 pm UTC

I was happy ever since they fixed the input lag on one of their big patches after a period of nothing (probably 2 patches ago on steam). I mean although I never tried using WINE on it, it worked and looked good with eON after that patch. =) It's good to have supported ports, even with compatibility layers like WINE, because it means updates from paid professionals will fix things (and not require fan support via winehq/PlayOnLinux)! I'm guessing this is where GOG Linux support is stepping up. =D
