Here's hoping that this will also make Cyberpunk 2077 work again, after the massive patch yesterday...!

Quoting: mZSq7Fq3qsHope that they can get that USB-chord thingy working so that I can plug in my quitar.
Ah! Good point! I sincerely hope so too! I've mentally put Rocksmith into the "not working" category due to that USB issue.

Would be fantastic if that one is working, then there'll be rockin' in my cave. :)

Tomb Raider's Linux port from Feral Interactive delisted on Steam

It's sad - an era is over. The era of excitement and optimism over "native" ports. It was a good run, and the atmosphere was electric!

But to be totally honest here, I have more often than not ended up forcing the Windows version w/proton on the games where there was a native alternative. It simply worked better.

Eggnut decide not to bring Backbone to Linux officially

Quoting: EhvisDid you even look at the page?
Evidently not good enough! :) I misunderstood the sentence, "We're currently only tracking games that got successfully funded" to mean successfully funded WITH Linux version. I didn't then inspect the stats below any further. My bad!

Quoting: Purple Library GuyThat looks to me like it's saying 88% delivered.
Indeed! 12% is still quite a high number (more than one in ten did not deliver on promise) but it could have been a lot worse :)

Quoting: BeamboomIs it just me, or do most kickstarter projects with a promised Linux version end up like this? I feel it's happened over and over and over now...
No, see this:

https://www.gamingonlinux.com/crowdfunders/
That page only lists the ones that did deliver. It doesn't tell anything about what share they represent in the totality - how many crowdfounded projects that did not deliver on promise.

Dying Light 2 Stay Human is out and works well on Linux

Quoting: AnzaI guess games should have possible to tone down horror in same way that there's possibility to adjust difficulty. It's hard to have one level suitable for all.
I actually disagree! Not all games are for all people, nor should they strive to be. Better to be GREAT for some than average for all. :)

And I am really a massive coward when it comes to scary content. A fast moving monster, or something that appears out of nowhere will by default scare the sh*t out of me. But the funny/weird thing is that I am still attracted to those games, I just always - ALWAYS! - end up quitting after a very short time. :D

Epic Games CEO says a clear No to Fortnite on Steam Deck
9 Feb 2022 at 1:27 pm UTC

Quoting: F.Ultrathere is no need for cheaters to force Fortnite to work on the Steam Deck in order to cheat, they can cheat right now using Windows
Soooo... Your logic is that since they also have a challenge to tackle cheats on other platforms, they might just as well expand the attack vector?

I mean... That is what you are saying here.

Quoting: dpanterThe horror aspect is lessened yes. As much more of the gameplay is focused on nighttime, Techland aimed to make the night more accessible for all players.
Really? That's great news for me, because I found the first game to be way too bloody scary. The missions I were forced to do at nighttime made me quit playing!

Quoting: GuestAnticheat is so dumb. It's just like DRM... The only thing that reliable stops cheating is a paywall
??? Paying gamers don't cheat, is that the logic here?

AntiCheat is not a tool against piracy, it's against cheating. Aim bots, texture alterations, value tampering, tampered collusion detection, everything that is running client side that the server depends on being legit. It really has zero to do with DRM.

Quoting: EikeI think it was meant to mean X is working better with Proton on Linux than natively on Windows.
That's what I initially thought too - but if you read carefully that's not what they say, and reiterate.

Quoting: tuubiIt's about DXVK and VKD3D, which can be used on Windows as well to translate from Direct3D to Vulkan. They're not tied to Proton or Wine.
How do you make that work within Steam on Windows? Startup parameters?
