It doesn't matter if that other version is bloody good. It's still pollution.

Quoting: slaapliedjeThe problem is that NOTHING is using the nVidia VR boosting tech, outside of perhaps the nvidia funhouse. And I hope it stays that way. Nvidia have always been one for the "split and conquer" strategy, like Microsoft. They pollute all other attempts at making clever APIs and standards, always have, always will. They make half-assed implementations of others work, and push their own version that does almost the same - only just for Nvidia cards.

*faints*
... Open eyes, sees headline and
*faints again*
Dare we hope for a full-fledged VR experience before summer? I think we do! Time to start saving some SERIOUS cash!

MX Nitro, a positively rated motocross racing game is heading to Linux, should be here 'very soon'

EDIT: I found a review of it too, and from our perspective it looks good:
http://www.psu.com/review/32207/mx-nitro-review [External Link]
The cons of the game doesn't affect us much, since we don't have the competitors on our platform:
Little personality
Underwhelming presentation
All very familiar
The good sides are more meaty:
Plenty of customisation and upgrades
Decent controls
Bikes handle well
With the conclution: "MX Nitro needed something striking to get noticed, and it just doesn’t have that special spark. It remains a good motocross game, but one that consistently sits in the middle of the mud-sprayed pack."
All in all sounds like a nice title to get on our side of the ballpark.

Quoting: silmethIt’s Polish language, not “Polish” language. You know, it doesn’t pretend to be Polish while not really beingMaybe it's just gibberish that sounds like Polish to someone not knowing the language? :)

Quoting: chepatiAnd finally, GTA5? I will pay $120 (double day-1 price) for thisTotally agree. I've said this before, I have no problem whatsoever with paying an extra "fee" for a Linux version. Not when I know how small we are. And GTA5? I'll send a carte blanche (hah - do any of you youngsters know what that is! :) ).

So, for the first time I tried purchasing a game from Feral directly instead of through Steam. And I gotta tell you guys, it's a really quick process. You don't even need to register. Just three clicks and it's done (at least if you use PayPal).
You don't even need to open any mails, you get the Steam key right away after you paid, as part of the receipt in the browser. Just copy-paste into Steam and off you go to download - and Feral gets a well deserved bigger share of your payment.
I'll totally go this route from now on.

Serious Sam VR: The First Encounter is now waiting on SteamVR being updated for Linux

But what exactly does this mean: Will this game now work on Vive if I buy it, so I can just go get me the VR-set and hook it up to the set?
Doesn't there need to be some sort of framework software in place as well, before I can connect the Vive to the PC? Is that what "SteamVR" is?

I've never returned anything, I've archived them on the "ok I hope you've LEARNT now, Beamboom!" tab, listed for all eternity on my account as a future reminder. :)
I still think we should rate the titles on their own merits though, independent of supported platforms. But man, yeah, it's great times now. We all got some favourite franchises we still miss having but so far so good indeed!

Quoting: liamdaweI don't cover everything I'm sent, some honestly go right in the "sin bin" for showing all the signs of being completely pants.Ah - that explains some.
I also refund some that end up crap that I buy myself, so that removes some from my library :)

Quoting: MintedGamerConsidering that all we had was the likes of Tuxracer and minesweeper not so long agoWell from that perspective we are in EPIC times now, of course. I still can't get over that we got both Deus Ex, Rocket League, Xcom2 and Hitman within a timespan of less than 12 months. Each individual title woult have made the YEAR for me personally, just a few years ago.

I guess it boils down to how we want to define "great". To me, greatness is a quite rare sight and deserved only to the ones who excels at a few core aspects of the game.
Games like Borderlands 2, Divinity Original Sin, Dying Light, Metro, Torchlight, Rocket League, Xcom (to mention but a few personal favourites)... That's games/series that deserves to be called "great" in my book.
Games that are technically working and entertaining for a while are not neccesarily great.
Or even, now that I think about it: Games that do have their technical issues can still be "great"! I guess greatness is a feeling more than a feature. :)

Quoting: liamdaweOut of the 800 Linux-supported games I own on Steam, there really aren't that many terrible ones. I just don't make a habit of buying or testing things that have telltale signs of probably being bad.But you're given keys too, by random indie devs on a regular basis? That would be a catastrophy to the greatness ratio on my account. :)

You got SEVERAL hundred games for Linux on your account, and 99% of them are what you would describe as GREAT? OK sounds like you're easily pleased then, I must say.
I got around 200 games now I guess (don't remember exactly), and I can easily say 10% are a pure waste of time, 40% mediocre, the rest being what I'd describe as "quite good" or higher. The ones I'd say are "great" would be maybe 15-20%. And that's after I've done a decision on what to purchase.
I mean, let's be honest about the quality ratio here.
