Quoting: leillo1975Are this beta changes implemented in the stable release? I don't play the game since a lot of time
Yes it is. The game runs well now. I'm on a gtx680 and while I've not done a comparison with Windows it's fairly steady going between 40-70 frame range, and that makes it more than playable for me.

(a tip: I experienced a better visual appearance when I tuned the shadow details *lower*, from high to medium I think it was. I think it looks better!)

Reassembly, A Spaceship Building And Combat Game Grows Up With A Big Update

@Teal
By all means - I'm just commenting on your justification towards paying more for AAA titles.

Don't worry - it will be on Steam sales long before spring has arrived. Just stay put. I usually don't pay full price either - and I'm working fulltime.

Quoting: TealI can at least justify it through the fact it's money that are split among often literally hundreds of developers who worked on that game. Meanwhile, a three guy thing done with pretty yet still quite low effort vector graphics, besides still in early access, for 27,99€, that's just really rough.
Number of sold copies plays a role here, to put it mildly. I can almost guarantee you that the top selling AAA releases fetches more dineros to each developer than the small indie releases do.

If that is any salvation. :)

If the port turns out to be good I'll purchase this for sure.
Judging from the trailers it looks to be what Dead Island should have been.

Not unless it's cleared with the owners, something it does not seem to be.

This disclaimer is like me saying, "here, I ripped these MP3s if you want them for free - just make sure you already own the album first!" and believe that changes anything in regards to legality.

Thanks alot for your replies, lave and MayeulC! Now I understand. Also, I'm pretty sure I have turned on vsync in witcher - I've always turned it on, as I knew the relation between refresh rate and screen tearing - but now I'll pump up the refresh and turn off vsync instead :).
Also the nvidia drivers always sets the resolution to "auto" and it appears that sets the refresh rate at 60 - that explains why Witcher seem to be capped at 60 for me.

Thanks again for that info guys, I've always wondered about that stuff.

(I'm on a ASUS GeForce GTX 680 2GB btw. Enjoying Witcher on high setting@HD res with decent framerate (typically 40ish up to the mentioned 60 "cap"))

How do you get more than 60 frames in Witcher? It looks to be capped at 60 for me, even indoors it stops at 60 spot on. And I got a screen with a refresh rate of 120 so that should be no bottleneck.

Also, a framerate of 160?! What kind of screen have you got to handle that high refresh rate? Or are not refresh rate and fps related? You can't get a higher frame per second than the max refresh rate of the monitor, can you?

... The "mostly positive" steam user rating means it's not a 100% catastrophic disaster, that's what it means. No more than that. Unless a game is a complete scandal it reaches the "mostly positive" state with ease.

Steam really need to introduce a more fine-grained rating system than either "THUMB UP" or "THUMB DOWN", or stop focusing on user ratings altogether. At current state it's misleading more than being of any use.

I just hope it's a recent game. And, please, not a strategy game.
