Lutris Open Gaming Platform New Release

Interesting idea, but this app sorely needs a feature to scan the system and add the games already installed. There's just no way I'm manually adding each game in my Steam client, and it's no point in just adding my current favourites.

I don't really feel it with what I see here, but the coop part might win me over. There's not much that can beat a good coop session with buddies!

Puppy Games Aren't Impressed With Linux Sales (UPDATED)

Whining like this is just so extremeny unprofessional and very counter-productive.

Also, I had a look at the games they list on Steam, and from what they've done so far I don't mind them dropping our platform althogether. As far as I am concerned they make games for tablets and mobile phones.
And good grief how many of those kind of "indie" devs it is out there now. Sorry but it has almost come to the point where I consider these kind of devs to be nothing but noise in my Steam client.

I find it so fascinating that it really only takes one man to do these ports. It can't be much work then, to get the job done?

It just amazes me, seeing how it takes hundreds of programmers several years to make those big productions.

Quoting: Segata SanshiroAre any of their games on Linux? I checked their websites and Steam but couldn't find anything. If there's DRM-free Linux versions somewhere which I haven't seen, then let me know and I'll add them in.
Ah sorry, no. I just thought you did a general rundown of Norwegian game devs. My bad.

On topic:
You forgot Funcom, the makers of The Longest Journey, Conan and Anarchy Online!

Generally speaking, this is one of the things that really excites me about the gaming industry: It's not as centralized on US/UK productions as most other entertainment media is. We find some of the very top, AAA productions coming from all over the world, countries like Ukraine, Poland, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, small countries in most contexts.

I really dig that. It's awesome!

Quoting: chrisqYou forget to add that the fantastic social welfare state and monopolistic agricultural protection has left us as the highest cost country in the world. Effectively killing off just about all industry and production besides oil, pushing us towards a horrendous fall when the income from oil and gas subsides.

On top of this our socialist governments have led a catastrophic immigration policy, mostly importing people from africa, the middle east and asia with no schooling. Calculated by the government to have a net cost of $700.000 each, this also because of the magnificent welfare state. Mohammed is now the most common name in Oslo, the capital.

Yes, you can fool a lot of people into thinking your policies are good and the governement efficient, when you can throw basically unlimited amounts of money at any issue. The problem arises when there is no money left and all production has moved to lower cost countries.

You're wrong about privatization, the governement holds most stocks in a partly privatized company (Statoil), but its income mainly comes from taxing the production of oil and gas, something that could be done regardless of state ownership, which is ridiculous.

I could go on about how the welfare state as we know it today was largely just a continuation of the policies forced on us by Nazi rule during WW2 (e.g. child support was their idea), but this should be enough to dispell the faery tale you have been told.
There's so many errors, myths, politically motivated misinterpretations and twistings of facts in this summary that I won't even start to correct them, other than to say that this is *not* the place to discuss this. But coming from one of the safest, highest welfare, high standard of living, lowest unemployment rating nations in the entire *world*, you do come across as one seriously disillusioned spoiled brat.

Kind regards, another Norwegian

Feral Interactive Wish To Know Why You Game On Linux

"Why I game on Linux" is, to me, like asking why I chose Linux to begin with. Why it is my OS of choice both in private and at work.

For me it's the freedom. The freedom to config your system to look and behave how you like, the openness, the wonderfully complex and organic nature of something as decentralized and in many ways chaotic as the Linux platform. Oh man, it's such a gorgeous beast.

I also love the professionalism at the core. The enterprise solutions. The way Linux defines and shapes the entire backbone of the IT industry. The many great companies that base their products and services on Linux.

And of course, the Linux community. There's rotten eggs here too, by all means, but overall I just feel that the Linux community is quite a few notches more intelligent than the rest. In all humbleness. :)

And finally, GAMING on Linux is awesome simply because I use Linux at work and at home, and having to reboot into that fugly Windows partition to play a game has never appealed to me ever, and even less now.

It's just so god damn awesome to see it finally happen, after all these years. I still have to pinch my arm on a regular basis.

And hey FERAL: You guys ROCK! Your Xcom port stands out as quite possibly the best port to Linux yet. Cheers!
