I'll not be surprised if Canonical backs out of this decision again, seeing the reception.
But either way, no one's forcing you to upgrade to 19.10. The practical difference between the versions are only smaller and smaller for each year.
I used to always upgrade back in the days for great benefits, but now I don't even care if I use 18.04 (@work) or 18.10 (@home), I've not even bothered upgrading to 19.04.
So there's really no reason for rushed decisions no matter what.

I don't even understand how this has managed to become such a surprise for so many. Evidently Canonical should make a bigger and bolder announcement over this, but really, it's been in the pipeline for a long time already.
And like I said in that other discussion: One can't expect an old binary to run on new computers for all eternity.
Maybe it's too soon. Maybe it should have been handled differently. But the notion that the entire backlog of the history of gaming should be forever kept able to run across all future generations of operating systems... It's just dumb.
If you want to run old software, keep an old OS on your drive. Just like if you want to play your cassettes, keep a cassette player.

If y'alls problem with this is old 32bit games, why can't you just keep a partition with current Ubuntu installed, and run the games on that one? I mean, times change. One can't expect an old binary to run forever, that's just not how it works.
I mean, getting rid of old technology is always a pain for some. Look at Adobe Flash, the entire world worked hard for a decade to get rid of that nightmare. It will hurt some to rip it out but sometimes we need to clean out the closet.

To do this, you will need a PlayStation 3 system with custom firmware.Oh, ok.
Please note that you can only use this method if an .ird file is available online for the decryption of the disc. Not every Blu-ray drive will recognize PlayStation 3 titles due to how PlayStation 3 format discs are designed.Oh, ok.

Ok, so how does this work exactly? Do you need a bluray-drive in yor PC and then your PS3-games are firef up from the drive like a PS3, or is anything special needed to be done to transfer the game to the hard-drive?

And most games have something for both sides of the scale - and the ability to weight those components is what separates professional reviewers from amateurs.

Quoting: coesetaWow that is way to much for fallout. It would deserve a ~10 or something. Guess Bethesda payed some ppl to get up to 52.No game obtain an average score of 10 after tens, or even hundreds of reviews. That's borderline impossible from a statistical point of view.

Quoting: coesetaI think Fallout 76 is still way lower :P52 - and that is scandalously bad. Puts this rating into perspective. :D
Quoting: kuhpunktIt already got some major updates, fixing many things. I haven't played the game yet, but I don't think the 37 are accurate anymore.... It may have improved (to be honest, with so bad games it usually doesn't take much). But has it improved up to a decent level, say comparable with games around metascore 70? Cause really, life is too short to play bad games when there's plenty better games to waste time on. :)

I need to read the reviews to judge if the issues are at all fixable in later patches (bugs should be, content issues and design issues are not neccesarily that easily fixed) but at the very least read'em before you buy, folks.

hasn't really reviewed very wellThat's the understatement of the year so far :D It has a metascore of 37. Thirty-seven. I don't think I've ever seen a game with a lower rating, ever. It is slaughtered by the reviewers, to such an extent we should be positively surprised if it's even playable.

Quoting: Eike... but if the sales are low, we'll never make anything for Linux again!Exactly.

Unfortunately! Cause the maps themselves looks really fun to traverse.

Quoting: HadBabitsOn a practical level I imagine this is a lot cheaper than designing and animating humans in a human-sized environment. You're probably right, but I would think that with today's powerful game design framework it shouldn't be that hard... But looking a bit closer at the animations and physics here, it becomes pretty apparent that this is a project with little focus on physics and animations. So there's other issues here that's more pressing than being a bird, now that I think about it. :D

Quoting: liamdaweSure, I would also like a proper full-on skating game, but this isn't meant to be a pro-skater game.I miss a proper skate game! :(

Why birds, though? Why not just have regular human beings and make a good skate game with really cool locations? We're a bunch of people who are still waiting for a good one after S.K.A.T.E ended with the sequel.
I mean, what does it add to the game to have us be friggin' chicken? Who thought, "oh that'll sell some extra copies"?
